Question Any one loose a blue tub?

Hey Now, Any one lose a large blue plastic tub? They found one in an area some of you only dream about.

" • Wednesday, June 14 10:13 a.m. There it lay, in the middle of the road – a blue “storage tub” jam-packed with a literally mind-numbing load: eight pounds of processed marijuana. The cannabicopia wasn’t exactly in Arcata Police’s jurisdiction, being six miles up Bald Hills Road from Orick at the Redwood Creek Overlook, but APD got the call anyway, and notified the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy located the rogue nugtub, securing four shopping bags bursting with buds."

Grow grabbed at gunpoint – June 13, 2006
Kevin L. Hoover

SUNNY BRAE – The latest marijuana-related home invasion robbery in Arcata included gunfire.

Last Thursday, June 8 at about 10 p.m., Officer Vince O’Connor responded to the 900 block of Bayside Road on the report of an argument. There, he encountered four people leaving a home, one of them bleeding from a gunshot to the leg. The victim was yelling that one of the four was armed, and O’Connor detained all four subjects at gunpoint.

Backup officers arrived “within seconds,” according to Sgt. Martin Bence. Investigation revealed that two suspects had allegedly entered the residence and held two victims at gunpoint during a robbery. One of the victims reportedly attempted to disarm the suspect holding the gun, and during the struggle was shot once in the leg.

The suspects then allegedly took marijuana and money from the residence and were attempting to abduct the victims to take them to another location to get more money when O’Connor arrived.

The suspects were identified as Vincent Mitchell, 22, of Richmond California and Tina Adams, 22, of Pittsburg, California. Mitchell was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, home invasion robbery, kidnapping, burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of marijuana for sale.
Adams was booked on charges of home invasion robbery and possession for marijuana for sale.

The 25-year-old male victim of the gunshot wound also sustained a minor facial injury after being hit with the gun, a 9mm Ruger, and was treated and released at Mad River Community Hospital.

Legal issues
This was the fifth home invasion robbery in Arcata in the last three years. Most, Bence said, have been marijuana-related. Though the stories of the involved individuals varied, the suspects apparently and smoked marijuana at the house the previous night.

“We don’t want this to become a trend any more than it already is,” Bence said. He said victims of marijuana-related home invasions shouldn’t be worried about reporting the crime, regardless of whether their grow is legal under Proposition 215. “The grow takes a back seat,” he said. The two victims are not being charged with any marijuana-related offenses, though Bence didn’t say whether or not their garden was legal or not.

Potential robbers don’t much care whether the grow is medical or recreational, either, given the monetary value of the cannabis. “If you grow marijuana, this can happen,” Bence said.

This reminds me of a stoner moment I had some years ago when I had a 30' laddeer on my truck. Well, one day I nor my partner remembered to tie it down when we loaded it. We went down the freeway and it flew off the truck and accoss three lanes of trafic. Nothing was wrong with the ladder until a Semi truck drove right over the middle of it and made it look like a U. Picked it up threw it in the back of the truck and got the fuck outta there. Sparked up a fatty and laughed our ass off.
