The future of 502 Producer/Processor licensing

So like many here in Washington state I missed the boat when it came to putting my name in the hat for the application to become a 502 producer processor. But now that I actually have access to my own funding and have the money I am S.O.L. when it comes to applying for a license because the window is closed. I have spent some time corresponding with a few people willing to part with their licenses/applications via Craigslist and they all say 50k cash isn't enough to get the conversation started, not that I offered that, but they were pretty forward in that position.

So my question is for someone more knowledgable than myself, do they plan on opening up the application process in the future? Or will they really let the 300 or so growers hold the green keys to Washington forever?

I know that this is something that I would like to do, but forking over 50k in cash for someone else's application seems well...shady, like I would be getting taken advantage of. Is the route that all future farmers will have to take?

YES... they L&C board is going to issue another 400+ license... in the next year to facilitate the merger of REC & MED.... into one state controlled process

use this link.... regardless of the article... mid way down is a slide presentation...

this explains many of the coming changes.... mid way thru acknowledgment of MORE stores is given and explained.... including a 4th new type license.... a license to transport .... so yes w/ the changes coming.... there will be more issued to rolls this all together....

special once numbers come back from "projected" medical usage and quantities need to meet this demand....

Thank you for the article, but correct me if I am wrong, it was really only referring to retail stores? To allow for greater access for medical patients and all that good stuff. But I am more curious about the licensing to grow, my heart isn't in retail. The logical thought process is yes, they shut down medical so they will need more growers, but I have yet to read anywhere that they will open the applications back up for growers specifically.

I guess the pessimist in me says that they will just allow all the producers that applied for three licenses to get their license and they say we have hit our cap for canopy space and thats the end of the story. Which leaves new guys out in the rain so to speak. Any thoughts?

Also interested to know... Heard rumors of releases in June but found them to be bullshit.

logic would say YES..., might take a bit to get there{ the state loves to wait on demographic numbers from previous year before plotting next year}.... but one would think yes....it's a OLY frame of mind....
as the retail shops expand... so would the demand for product... even adding more canopy size to existing grows can only provide so much... sp if U add shops u would have to add growers and processors to support these shops...

especially if U want to control the market IE:fix the price's low enuff to close the black market down....

Fine with me if it takes some time, I am in no rush as I have plenty of life left in me. Just would be bummed to get the shaft and have to move to a different state, so I can set up the equivalent of a micro brewery.

Thanks for the info Bogey!
