combining two females for seed production
hoping to cross AC/DC with hurkle in hopes of finding a higher CBD seed that maintains a solid 10% THC but neither are male. i have some solution to encourage pollen production but i've read it's prone to hermaphrodites and if bred further into the rest of the genepool, might bring that trait with it.
worth it to try if i don't plan on crossing the resulting seeds with stable genetics? seems like even if you do, just keep an eye out and get rid of the hermies. last thing, does it matter which plant gets turned hermaphrodite if you are combining two different strains? looking to get away from the spindley, weak growth of the AC/DC and beef it up with the hurkle. any help appreciated

If ya have the solution why not reverse a cut of each to pollinate each other as well as self themselves?
Then you will have 4 lines to work with. In the S1 you should be able to see if those floppy stems are dominant or not. If not, maybe you will find a better parent plant to work with for your purposes. Same for the hurkle. You should see what attributes dominate in S1s & possibly find a better parent for your cross. However... Since you desire breeding for Chemotype, you should probably have any plants you deem fit as a parent tested for cannabinoids/terpins for a better match. Not many breeders are taking this path due to testing expenses. Good luck with your project and your hunt for your favorite specimen. |

is testing of tissue an accurate indicator? not sure if any labs do that. it would save a lot of time not having to flower every potential plant..

You can successfully reverse your females using Colodial Silver. I got this on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00 I reversed a Bog Grape Punch and pollinated my Bog Blue Kush. I grew out 10 beans and there were no hermies and I had 2 excellent keepers from the 10. This is by far the best way to reverse your favorite females!! Good luck |

The search function works pretty well.

haven't heard that one before. maybe i'm just a moron and can't search properly but i did search a bunch of different terms and read a bunch of threads and i havent found anything on the matter of whether or not there is any sort of dominance in the outcome depending on which plant is treated making fem'd hybrids or if it'll just be a crapshoot either way. seems to be the case with male/female breeding but even with s1's, from all i've learned reading books and utilizing the search function it seems like there will always be some variation in the offspring. perhaps someone with actual experience could chime in or i can just continue experimenting and figure it out on my own.

Combining 2 keeper females to make seeds , is my preference in breeding when I choose seeds to pop

i bailed on the AC/DC. the particular cut i had seems to be prone to pest problems and a poor yielder. after a run outdoor i decided to keep looking rather than breed with her. glad to know this isn't a bad way to go. after a lot of searching i finally found some seeds that are supposedly able to get over 20% CBD while being mold and pest resistant. currently waiting on those to show sex but i've kept the hurkle mother in good health and plan to get this seed project done be it feminized or regular breeding this outdoor season. if i devote a whole plant to seeds it seems like i'll have a ton to sift through so i might need some help pheno hunting lol thanks for the input and encouragement everyone! didnt mean to snap at ya MJpassion
