i dont think that in a cab that size you can put a 400 watthps. i am just starting to build my first hps cab but i know thats too much light. you should look at a 150-250. just my 2 cents.

1 sq foot needs like 5000 - 6000 lm
so 70 hps is 6000 lm 400 W outputs 55000 it is way to much for that room |

![]() Grow courtesy of sunnyside Quote:
That grow was using 100 w/sq.ft and 15000 lumens/sq.ft of garden space. A 400w HPS in your area would be 178~ w/sq.ft and 24,444 lumens/sq.ft for your total area A 250w HPS in your area would be 111~ w/sq.ft and 14,667 lumens/sq.ft for your total area If you can cool a 400w, go for it, but I doubt you'll be able to and have them close enough to the plants. A 250w should be more than enough. I'm sure you get a better grams per watt yield if you used the 250, but you do what you want, and whatever you decide, I can't wait to see it. I assume 30" is your height. You want at least 50 watts per square foot of hps. (overgrow facts) 1.5' x 1.5'=2.25 square feet You would want a 112.5 watt bulb so get the 150 hps. You will have to get ventilation like a micro fan if the box is sealed up.

I planned to put a Master Flow 6in. elbow and then put a 6 in. in-line duct fan inside..would that be good enough ventilation?

6" fan sounds like plenty to me but I am not sure. Larger the lamp the more heat will be generated. Go with the 150 w hps.
