building the beds

building the beds

typically, most my beds are 10 inches to 12 inches tall.

because this is my cheapest run in history, i am just using material i had laying around.

- build a box/frame to the foot print that you need, in this case its 8 x 10 feet. (i am only using 4 x 600w). i used osb and 2x6 for this one

- line them with 2 layers of vapor barrier (just like med-man brand tables)

- fill the beds with 1 bail sunshine or promix : 1 bag loose, quality coco. please make sure to mix them up proper. with no chunks, broken down

- if you need to use the frame as a base for your lighting harness to save any damage done to the room, walls or cieling.

will update with pics when i bide some time.

kind regards

plumbing

plumbing

my beds are designed for 1 pl/sq/ft

but subject to your space they can be used as sea of green, with up to 64 plants per 4x4 or 5x5 etc. for the sake of it, i am doing typical beds

- so build a bulkhead with 1/2 t's on 12 inch centers. make sur to leave a T open where you attch a pump for irrigation

- secure to one of the short ends of the bed where you want to put your rez

- attach drip line (as 1 dripper per linear foot) to the T, then attch to other side of the beds with a simple I or O hook secured to the drip line with a gear clamp. secure with a simple screw, and remember to add a 1/2 inch plug to the line before securing

- repeat for as moany rows as you area dictates, in this case i have 8 rows in total

kind regards

planting

planting

med-man method: pre veg 50% more seeds then you need. or clones under optimal conditions but not in this case. keep the plants that take off ahead of the rest (typically 50% lol)

plant: so each stalk is in line with the hole of each dripper

keep lights as high as possible for the first week

nutes are 350ppm (0.5 ec) ph 6.3

typically you feed 1 whole drum (55gal) for every 8 lights. so i use 1/2 drum, one feed per week for 3-4 weeks of veg.

i use my cannabolic stacker in the res the first week

kind regards

Sounds like it was meant to be. What plants are filling the beds?

it totally was

remember my objective was to go as inexpensive as possible, and see what my output would be

strains used - med-mans head-band (sour diesel kush), and purple head-band (mmhb x bcpk)

kind regards

so the beds are 10 feet long, 8 feet wide

80 sq/ft = 80 plants

veg lighting

veg lighting

med-man method : 12 hours hps, 24 hour t-5 lighting

week 1 - 50% lights, rotated every 3 days, top of the cieling rh 80%
week 2 - 100% lights, top of cieling rh 70%
week 3 - drop lights 3-6 inches every 1-3 days rh 60%
week 4 - (in this case) keep lights as optimal, turn on co2 to 900-1100ppm rh 50%

plants grow so fast with low nutes and low lights. and they will only get irrigated once a week as i keep 70-80% rh till co2 gets turned on

irrigation = bed benefits

irrigation = bed benefits

like everything i love to oversize

so in this case i use a 1800 gph mondi pump

just connect to the irrigation line and either set a timer if you know how long it takes to empty, or hang out working in the room keeping an eye on water levels in the rez

whats awesome is how the beds work with the drip lines.

only small portions of the top soil actually get wet (pyramid effect). the middle layer of medium stays moist, and the bottom of the bed acts as a rez for wick feeding.

so plants really love how the beds act like a natural setting outdoors

- there is no transplanting
- plants never get wilting from drought or salt build up
- each plant wicks what it needs
- top soil stays relatively dry unlike traditional pots and containers keeping rh down and overwatering nil
- they will never get rootbound per say like in pots and containers
- irrigation lines make even distribution of solution, and save us bacj breaking labor
- on a large scale, whole rooms can be equiped this way, with no walking space, maximizing output and input
- medium is reused, with minimal replenishing as long as no harsh pgr or flushing agents are used

Sweet!!!

Cheap and simple to build. Love the free standing light frame. No looking for ceiling joist there.

Almost makes me want to change over to dirty.

Thanks Med-Man.:tiphat:
