security
Don't tell anyone as mentioned. Also, do not put anything grow related into the trash can like leaves, etc... They can pull your trash and then easily get a search warrant.

How far should the different lights be away from the plant? Somebody had their 1000 watt light 4' away recently and thats too far. How long should the lights run and what time of day is best? Just trying to come up with typical new guy questions.

Use the back of your hand. If it's too hot for your hand it's too hot for the plant. And vice versa. If you can comfortably move the light closer to your plant, then do it.

good q's
Generally I keep 1000's anywhere from 18" to 36" away from plants depending on how much wind you have at the bulb.I try to blow a fan up into my lights allowing me to place the plants a little closer..24"to 36" is safer for 1000..
Also air cooled lights can go quite close..The back of your hand is an excellent way to determine if the lights are too close...Always remember to keep a breeze blowing across the top of the plants... I will add this info when we finish.. Take care and grow safe.......................... ........CC |

I do not want to come across as a know it all. I do believe that ph may be one of the most important things to keep an eye on. With promix you should be at 5.6 to 6.2 Even if you believe that your nutrient solution with buffers works without knowledge of ph...okay...but some people may have funky water. Mr. Blast here at ICMAG last week was a nonbeliever of ph because he was using the buffered nutrients until he gave in to everybodys suggestion to check ph. To his surprise it was 7+. 90% of nutrition problems are ph related. You should at least throw this in with one sentence. Just my humble opinion.
