Old seeds germination

I found some my old Ducksfoot seeds , they are at least 10 years old. I got only 15 left, ive tried to germinate it 3 years ago and only 1 out of 15 sprouted... Any ideas how to improve germination of those seeds?

fine sandpaper in a film canister or pill bottle and shake until scuffed up. you can soak in water until they drop to the bottom and transfer to ptowels or rooter cubes.

old seeds are just that old. just depends how they were kept and other factors....

best of luck

I'm investigate about the problen of old seeds, in fact i have to confront germinate one f13 old pack.
The net is pregnant with guides, videos and howtos.

In my opinion the best method is in-vitro, you can get the best tips from it. But is for very experimentated people with the apropiate equipment. The big problem is the asepsis and maintain it.
Remember in-vitro seeds no explants.
You have very very good guides for orchids.

I choose a combination:

No cleaning with chlorine because...
1 Scarification

2 Pure h2o at constant temp
3 Cotton + h2o at constant temp
4 light soil

I like the giberelic acid but exist many... and I can't buy the exact giberelic acid, the proportion is also a problem.
Auxins and others, problems as with giberelic acid.

Good luck wdr
