Samana is on a distinguished road
I met Lee in Paris on a September night in 1965 in a restaurant in Les Halles.
I was there with my first wife on our honeymoon.
He came over and sat at our table and offered us a poem.
I,in turn, pulled out one of my poems.
We read to each other and melded together.
We went back to his hotel room in Rue De Buci and got totally fozzywhockered on primo More'rock'an Kif mixed with More'rock'an blond hash.
Smoked pure in a pipe.
He played Charlie Parker cassettes on his machine.
I blew my Alto Sax for him.
We talked about everything.
WE became inseparable for the week we were there.
We stayed in close touch by snail mail.
In May of 1966 he came to stay with us in our Apartment in Worlds End,Fulham, London.
The day after he arrived he took me to meet Bart Huges(the dutch medical researcher who drilled a hole in his skull) in his apartment in Edith Grove in Earls Court,London where I became a daily visitor for the next 6 months.
I loved Bart--lovely Man..
Much talk about trepanation and much Afghan Hash and many Thai sticks.
2 weeks later Lee and I shared a 3 hour session with Bart Huges in Better Books Basement in Charing Cross Road,London.
Bart did his only London public reading of the Homo Sapiens Correctus Scroll.
Lee and I tread our poetry for the other 1 and 1/2 hours.
Partied afterwards with Allen Ginsburg et al.
Lee and I became close friends --meeting up in Paris,Amsterdam,Ibiza.
I played with Jimi Hendrix.

Thank you for posting that Samana!

It is wonderful to know that we are not the only ones who will never forget Lee Bridges and his poetry, adventures, friendship and tales.

Privileged to know the Cannabis Poet for the last five years of his life, we grew close as I helped him edit and whip into shape his autobiography 'Me, Two.' The happiness in his eyes when we opened that first box of books from the printer was priceless.

I have copies of ALL his books of poetry including some of the earlier 'chap books' from the Beat Generation.

Rest well Lee, we love you and smile at you every day.
