Hybrids from hell @ 48N. Not a good experience thus far..
Hey guys. This is a review of sorts of my experience so far with Hybrids from Hell genetics. I got the strains: Danish gold, Monk, Leb27v2 and wild2 (freebie). I have a journal on grasscity in which all of this is recorded with lots of photos so this is like the summarized version of growing them up until now (7/25/15). I am posting this here today because today I found 3/5 monk to be hermaphrodites. My 1 female danish gold also was a herm.
I would like to say that perhaps I did stress them throughout their lives, but one monk was pretty unstressed it's whole life and still ended up herming. I would not recommend this breeder based on this experience. Good genetics shouldn't herm so easily. All I did to stress is veg pollinate and have another batch 12/12 from seed to cull males early.. My method of growing is no-till organic pots. 3x 5 gallon and 1x 15 gallon. I use the same soil for seedlings. March I planted 2 of each and got 100% germination rate. Soon after I lost 1x danish gold and 1x leb27v2 to damping off. So I planted one more of each of those to replace them. The good danish gold showed to be a mutant but i let it stay. Soon after both wild2 showed male and 2 monk showed female. So at the end of march I had: 2x female Monk, total =2 2x male Wild2, total =2 1x unsexed Danish Gold (mutant), (1 planted) total =2 1x female Leb27v2, (1 planted) total=2 April The female monks showed intense preflowering and so I thought they were going to autoflower. I increased the photoperiod under my LEDs to 20/4 instead of previous 18/6. I planted more seeds to replace the males and what I thought were autos, I planted 2x monk, 2x wild2 and 1x danish gold (to replace the mutant). I culled one male wild2 as undesirable and used the other wild2 to pollinate everything that had female preflowers (some of my indoor genetics as well as 1x leb27v2 and 2x monk). Both danish gold (mutant and good one) showed male and so did 1 leb27v2. At this point I planted one more Leb27v2. So at the end of april I had: 2x female Monk, (2 planted monk) total =4 1x male Wild2, (2 planted wild2) total =3 2x male Danish Gold, (1 planted danish gold) total =3 1x female leb27v2, 1x male leb27v2 total =2 May New seeds sprouted which are 2x wild2, 2x monk, 1x danish gold 100% germ rate. Used the two male danish golds and male leb27v2 to pollinate the female leb27v2 and 2x female monks for the second and final round of veg pollination. the 2 wild2 I planted in april showed male after I was done pollinating so I cut them down and the rest of the males. At the end of May I had: 2x female Monk, 2x unsexed Monk total =4 1x female Leb27v2, 1x unsexed Leb27v2 total =2 1x unsexed Danish Gold total=1 ~may 28th I completed my greenhouse to the point I can have plants in it. I moved out the females after transplanting to 5 gallon pots. They are 2x female Monk, 1x female Leb27v2. June I moved the remaining 2 Monks, Leb27v2 and Danish gold into a 15 gallon pot to share. The leb27v2 showed male and the 2 monks and danish gold showed female. I cut down the leb27v2 since I was done with making seeds. I collected all the seeds that had grown on the pollinated plants (2x monk, 1x leb27v2). I threw the especially immature seeds from the monks into a cup. one sprouted. At the end of June I had: 4x female Monk, 1x unsexed monk cross I made of these genetics. total=5 1x female Leb27v2 1x female Danish Gold July Everything going well. On the 10th the Danish Gold showed nanners so I cut her down. It was growing happily and healthily so I blame the genetics here. Yesterday I found a lot of seeds growing and nanners on one monk. This monk had been unhappy since I brought it outside so I figured I'd just overstressed it somehow. I cut this monk down and replaced it with the baby Monk cross from immature seeds I made. Today I found two other monk are herming. Both are looking very healthy so I'm very disappointed that they too have gone hermaphrodite. It is at this point where I have concluded (my opinion) that Hybrids from Hell are pretty much not worth your time. If you are looking for genetics that will grow reliably in northern humid climates, look elsewhere, because while these may begin flowering early reliably (good) there is a high ratio of males and herms. AVOID MONK AT ALL COSTS. I am at 48* in western Washington state and that is my hybrids from hell experience so far. No mold yet but we haven't gotten into monsoon season yet so I have nothing to say about their mold resistance qualities. In total 100% germination rate BUT 4 monk, all female, 3/4 herm. I wonder if the seeds of this plant are from a herm itself.... 4 wild2 all male. 100% male..... 4 danish gold, 1 female (herm) 3 male (1 of which is a mutant) 2 leb27v2, 1 female (only good plant, no nanners so far and really fabulous bud structure and smell), 1 male. I have growing still: 3x monk (2/3 herm) 1x Leb27v2 1x my cross, Monk x multiple dads of these same genetics. |

I decided to not cut down the two monks I have going still which are herming and instead to pluck the nanners as I see them. I'd rather end up with seeded bud than nothing at all. At least I can make some hash.

Monk #2
Took the rest of the photos I'm about to post, in the next posts etc today. Sorry about them being sideways, not really sure why that happened. You should be able to see nanners in all of these photos if you look carefully. |

You're not alone bro, I popped 5 seeds each of Polish Demon, Danish Gold, HP2, Leb27S, LebChunk, SSSDH x HP2, Amnesia x HP2, Tsi Fly x HP2 and C99/Jaggen x HP2.
The HP2s were all males, 4 out of 5 Danish Gold too. The female Danish Gold was stable, no nanners and I was able to clone it and keep a mother for a few months successfully. The clones from it all auto.flowered after a month or so outside. Stangely some finished flowering really nicely while others re-vegged and had to be culled. I ended up with 2 females from the Leb27s, one popped nanners mid-flower and was culled, the other finished well and I have a clone from it flowering now. I really like the Leb so far. I used 2 Leb males to pollinate a few of my other (non-HFH) plants, we'll see how the progeny turn out. (I popped 4 random seeds to test and they're all females btw. I'm particularly excited about Peyote Purple x Leb27S!) As for the other strains, apart from the SSSDH x HP2, they generally produced total intersex hermie nightmares. I've never seen anything like it. Even seeded females popping nanners all over the place. Oh, to be fair there was a female Lebchunk that didn't hermie too, but it didn't really produce anything worth smoking unfortunately. The SSSDH x HP2 was really the only unqualified success here, no hermie issues whatsoever, very nice tasty strong weed and no mold either. I have a cut from one of the females starting to flower now and I made some F2s which have thrown up some interesting phenos, some of which are fully autoflowering so I for one believe that there must be some Ruderalis genes in the HP2 somewhere. To summarize, from 45 HFH seeds popped I ended up with 5 females that didn't totally hermie out on me. In contrast in the same grow I germed 20+ seeds from other breeders (Ace, Cannabiogen, Underground Seeds, Zen Seeds) and only got one hermie plant, and a much better ratio of females to males too. Not that impressed with HFH, maybe they're great for far northern growers but they've given me a load of trouble and dissapointment. I think the Leb27 is probably something special but now nobody is really sure if it's a pure Leb or if Esbe mixed in some Wild genetics, or if the Leb27S is pure while the Leb27v2 is a hybrid. Anyway, couple all this lack of clear genetic info about the strains with Esbe's disappearing act and/or complete lack of interest in the subject these days and my personal advice is STEER WELL CLEAR. Sorry, I know Esbe's a nice guy, but in my experience if you want to be sure of decent plants, go elsewhere. Last edited by The English Cut; 07-30-2015 at 10:59 AM.. Reason: Maths & Spelling |

So you blame the seed breeder 'Hybrids from Hell' even tho all the seeds germed anyway ..
but then you grow seeds from 12x12 hoping to sex early...all with some seriously dumb observations ...time for you to get a good grow book and do some serious study either that or just get easy grow feminized seeds in the first place, not very often we get noob growers blaming a quality seed breeder for his mistakes, at least on icmag anyway ....er and welcome |
