topping autoflower strains? Yay or Nay?

Hey all,
Been doing a bunch of reading. It looks like a couple years ago everyone was saying not to top or trim or FIM autoflowers because they have a set life cycle and some of the more recent articles ive read have suggested that it now might be a good idea as some of the strains are now more genetically stable. What is all of your takes on this?

NAY on topping. Let them do their thing.

I would say no. They have a limited time to veg and develop and that just sets them back and most likely stalls them a little bit. I have done it years ago, and I have not seen great results with it. Let em go.

Doji! is on a distinguished road
I sometimes top mine, but it depends on the strain
the strain "Quick one " grows fast enough for it to work out.
I cut them when the 3rd or 4th set of fan leaves have started showing

Nay

one of the main benefits of autos is that speedy veg period and one of the main drawbacks is the limited lifespan, topping will accentuate the negative aspects of both, by slowing down your (limited) veg and taking away valuable growing time that you cant get back (set lifespan)

Yes, it's a great method to increase yield, by low stress training...lower branches, the cola bending oh so carefully not to break them. We use cotton string holding with duct tape...lots of ways to LST...find your method and go for it.

I've got two critical autos going right now and a couple days ago I topped and defoliated one of them as a side-by-side experiment. Based on the responses you're getting, maybe I should have tried lst instead... haha

I've been growing autos for the last 5 years and I do top on the 2nd lateral each time, I do this to my photos and did a couple of autos by mistake, and earned and extra 2-3 J's doing so, with practice I prefer to FIM on the second set of leaves
