Cannabis Day in Vancouver BC
I celebrated Cannabis Day in Vancouver on the steps of the art gallery downtown. Here's a pic (the only one I took). I hope that posting this doesn't offend anyone...
There was a very mixed interesting crowd. Quite a scene. I got very baked on some hash that was offered to me. Lots of friendly people milling about, stoned. I bought what I think was white widow. I later found some dank indica - this girl had a sign up that listed the varieties she was selling. It was a teensy bit moldy but that didn't seem to affect the potency, which was killer. I don't remember what kind I got - I was so baked at that point. The rally was peaceful with lots of different kinds of folks, all pot smokers, milling about in the hot sun or perched in the shade on the museum steps. Lots of cute women too. Peace |

Oh, I'm sure there is surveillance of some sort, but not overt or intimidating in any way that I could see. This crowd is out and proud - it is sort of the nature of the movement up there. They have their own political party, annual protests/festivals like this one, etc.
Things could change, tho. The govt switched to the conservative party. I got grilled by the Canadian immigration officer. Questions, then questions about answers to questions, then one more layer of questions, all the time watching my eyes to see where they go. Fuckers know their jobs, they do. Good thing I had nothing to hide. Still, the fact he wanted to test me was a bit concerning. I try to keep a fairly conventional appearance. However, do not mention pot or by your appearance indicate that you have anything to do with marijuana. You do not want their attention and sometimes they are not nice - they don't let you in. He also asked me if I was looking for a job in Canada. Do not ever answer yes to that question- they won't let you in. |
