I think you are better off with a 400w hps as opposed to 600, people whom have used this reported better results then a 1000w hps.

The hell you say PS

I have done it and I will tell you for a single light setup the 600 is much better than the 400 and the 1000w tops them all. Multiple light setups may you may gain a little effeciency.

How big is your space? I would try and maintain a 50+ watt per sq.ft. setup. You might could do it with a 400w but that would be an awefully small space.

The 400w mh for veg and 600w hps in floer is basically what I run now in a 4x4 veg room and a 4x4 flower room. The veg side is alright I have a few Agrosun flouros and a couple 100w mh spread about. but I am about to step up my 600w to a 1000w in order to get the light saturation on the canopy above 50 in the 62.5 watts per sq.ft. That equals more output, better bud density, better finish times, the whole nine yards.

At least that's my .02

Tex

I would be very interested to see some proof on this matter.
I have always been informed that 1k hps bulb has more intensity then say 3 400 watt bulbs.
So therefore how could a 400 watter be better then a 1k watt ?

Im not saying you or anyone who told you this is incorrect i would just like to see some sort of evidence towards this statment.

you all misunderstod me aperently, I meant 400w hps with the 400 MH at the same time, I think this is what the thread starter was taliking about
https://www.bghydro.com/page/BHOS/PROD/DS/HLDSSP

the point of my post was it the 800w hps/mh combo works better than the 1000 hps then why bother paying for the extra 200 watts every mounth

I agree with that for sure the 800watts daul spectrum setup is better than a single 1000w hps.

Sometimes, I have a couple of loose bulb 150w mh that I hang vertically in the corners with my 600w hps hortilux overhead. It really beefs the side branching up.

really how well do the 150s work generally.
I once noticed that the lower 150w more than 1000 kelvins less then the higher wattage ones
150w=3,000 kelvin
250+=(generally)4,200
clear blue sky=40,000

Interesting thread. I eventually want to get a growzilla and throw a 400 mh in with my 600 hps for my personal set-up. I'm gonna be growing SOG.

What style do you plan to grow?

If SOG........... I'd go with the 600+400, or 400+400 if your doing a little smaller area.

If growing bushes or trees..........I'd go with the 1000 for the better penetration.

You'll be alright either way you go though.

my opinion on the 400 mh Great for Veg
not for flower

in flower it was as productive as a 250 hps so i've observed....

Not my cup of tea, your wasting energy, that different spectrum MH UV rays blah blah bunch of crap IMHO <----YEs tried and tested nobody notices a difference so.....

I would say it was a waste of money and time, but what was gained was a Veg Light....

Get two 600 hps or a 1K ...

you can veg under these, with no problems.

Please nobody get all Dr.Science and say well this amount of lumens or Par or any of that shit.

truth is in the puddin.
side by side test 400hps vs 400mh = MH yeilds like a 250hps in flower but develops nice squat bushes in veg...

im typing in cricles now...

Later
