It's a Lonely Lifestyle

I've noticed a little bit of discussion on this recently. Let's face it: growing weed is a lonely lifestyle.

We can't discuss what we do, but it goes deeper than that. I assume many of us are young and single; how do we answer that ever dramatic "so what do you do?" question? Personally, I'm VERY selective with those whom I associate myself with socially, and even then it pains me to make up some bullshit.

People who I have been friends with for years I can no longer identify with; they have taken the path more heavily trodden and have abdicated themselves to the corporate 9-5 lifestyle. In this sense (especially with the prevalency of people who submit to corporate slavery), it is hard to even find people who aren't annoying or dull to be around. There is a very severe scarcity of people who are even worth interacting with.

Sure, we have our community here, but this is a mere virtual escape. When we snap back to reality, we find ourselves again in that same uncanny world void of people who understand, sympathize with, and empathize with us. Even if a few might, it is too risky to disclose our true selves.

I love what I do, and I won't give it up. Nonetheless, it is a very lonely lifestyle. From having to keep everyone at a distance to the ongoing war on cash, it is increasingly isolating.

Meditation, diet, exercise, and regular sex go a long, long way.

Make the most of it. Read workout study explore. Look back and know you lived it happily and fully

Honestly most people are two-face anyways. You think you know someone at work? They are much different outside of work. I think its the show people have to put on to get by to get their paycheck.
There are also those who are genuinly nice and respectuful good people.

I agree with what you say about broken spirits. That is actually a great way to phrase it. I've always thought of it as fresh out of hope or circling the drain or pillhead sheeple. Its not hard to read it in how people talk and their body language.

I've found in my experience the more I talk to people at work the more I realize how fucked in the head they are. Not all but many. Things like how they react to stress, their family lives, poor financial decisions and the list goes on. I love the entitled ones that think they deserve more compensation because of X Y or Z. I get a good laugh out of that. Have fun competing with robots and third world labor.

Just because your life or lifestyle creates lonliness doesn't mean you have to suffer because of it. Until telepathy is created or discovered lonliness will always exist in everyone. Mindfulness is the one true counter to it.

I'm pickin' up what your laying down. I also dislike having to lie to people about occupation, especially close family. And this hobby does tend to limit meaningful social interactions.

But at the same time, we live in a great age to be a hermit. I've been going on youtube and learning how to play piano. Bought a cheap electronic keyboard and popped some free vids on the big screen and I'm going to give it a shot. After that, maybe guitar. Depends on how I do.

Point is, all the knowledge of mankind is literally at your fingertips. Not like the hermits of ancient times who lived in caves 'n shit; who had to rely on their own intelligence and wisdom to pass the time. Learn any skill you want: music, carpentry, painting, photography, sculpture, etc.

You could quite possibly become expert in many areas of study, like a modern day daVinci. Not many people have the free time that we do, so don't let this opportunity pass by. Being alone is different than being lonely.

I've found having an alternate legit business helps me with the loneliness and disconnectedness that comes with growing herb for a living... It also helps with the what do u do questions people seem to think are appropriate for small talk between strangers.

That being said there are many good people I've drifted away from because my real lifestyle is not something I'm comfortable sharing with them and I find it difficult to maintain a relationship in which I'm not comfortable being honest.
Idk I guess I don't really have a great answer to this.. Growing is a stressful, lonely job but there are many amazing aspects to it as well.
I just try to focus on the positive, stay busy and not let the dark thoughts and feelings consume me... I find this is much tougher in the winter...
But bottom line is.. I'd rather grow and be a free man than live on my knees slave to some paltry paycheck...
I watched my old man work himself to death and now he is gone.. Someday I will be gone also... I'd rather go to my grave on my own terms than someone else's and for me that is really the bottom line. Nothing is perfect and being ok with that helps my darker imaginings

Being a good neighbor, WHILE keeping everyone at arms length.

I have been in the underground club, music world, in a great city for years.

Surfed Big waves for 3 years in Hawaii, and worked 3 jobs to pay for it.

Lived and worked in the most expensive city in the USA (not at that time) - with a tie, selling travel. Then in Picture Framing creative, but time traded for money. I thus gave away my time for money, got married, hated it, was told to stop enjoying pot, from an alcoholic wife. Who used to be a club princess, tons of fun, and sexy. Now, a yuppie hellbent on getting ahead. From a rich family. I did not want to sell out, it didn't feel right, even though most would have counseled me on staying where the money was.

Fuck all that, the dominating women and the shitty bosses. not rich In a state where I can get ahead at least now.

Fuck Babylon, and all it stands for. I do not prescribe to the 9-5 to stay alive, 2 kids and 1.5 dogs. Plus debt up the yin yang. shitty bosses

There are massive inconveniences in this field/hobby we love. And the grass always looks greener from the other side.

Nothing is perfect.

Get creative, musically, artistically, LIFE AS ART. Stay healthy, work out is the best mind adulterer, exercise makes everything feel better. As does GLUTEN FREE DIETS....! Trust me on this. All Anxiety departs.. So does water help. Kayak, Paddleboard, swim.

Avoid alcohol, a not so subtle poison that is very bad for longevity.

Haven't been laid in years, although I used to get whatever I wanted when I wanted it - maybe that will change.

If all seems boring (LIFE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A DRILL, BUT GROWING CANNABIS IS A DRILL). Then Take a vacay for a month, away from it all, somehow. Or move to a different and hopefully better location to put a fire under your ass, to be happy..

DO BE HAPPY we are blessed, but it AIN't Easy.

We may wear more "hats" than any other job/hobby/occupation.

at times it is..but worth it .. with legal now I still don't advertise and keep it on the downlow.. theres still people who would love to steal/rob your crop...I do a lot alone anyhow.. I used to share info and I lost some hunting and fishing spots so I do that a lot alone too...its worth it to have aaa smoke whenever you want,several strains..i couldn't afford to pay for all I smoke.. and the extra cash sure don't hurt any either....yeehaw

I like the notion of art. It seems that due to the nature of our work, we really have no choice but to embrace being hermits. Though, our free time and relative solitude gives us the opportunity to explore and create.

Growing in and of itself is an adventure, but the exploration and adventure shouldn't stop there.

It would pain you more to sit in a jail sell, watch your house and property get auctioned or have a shotgun to your head when the rippers come. Make something up. Better yet, get a real career and keep growing in your closet, bedroom, warehouse, whatever...

I know a guy who lost his kid over growing. The kid is not dead, but he had a 12 gauge placed against his head for 30 minutes while the rippers found his safe. All from bringing a stripper escort to his house, on the surface. When in fact, it was his neighbor who was on probation for 5 years that set him up, dealt him out, and took a kickback from the attorney who did the neighbors case. Then, that guy that ratted him, his partner, up and moved to a new city.

I know the guy is a dirty rat, but I never said anything to the neighbor, because he wouldn't have believed me at the time. So I let him learn on his own. Frankly, I'm surprised it took so long to all unravel.

Always be suspicious of a guy who has an attorney for you if anything goes down. He's probably planning on ratting you for 10% some day. In fact, beware of anyone that keeps the company of attorneys. Usually scumbags.

We're all men, so I typically keep my mouth shut and just watch it all happen. The dude probably lost all of his firearms and his home over it, not to mention his grow equipment, cash, peace of mind, family and countless other stuff.

Shakira I'm with you 100% when the work is done there is the freedom to do what you desire.
