I'll be sure to check them out, but I'm going with the dehydrator from now on. led05 convinced me, and it's sitting there waiting to be useful.

These are going to come out sweet and sticky like black hash. The smell is nothing yet wait until they have been sealed up for a few weeks and let me know what you think. If it all goes to plan the smell will get you hooked even more than now. Its sweet hashish and dark ganja smell you will never want anything else after you smell it. I make cobs just to experience that new fermented smell it is very special on some strains more than other of course. Panama is one such strain and the Panama x Honduras is even better.

The basic recipe no matter which one you use will see you get a good result. But once I open them after 24hrs sweating I know where I am going by the look and aroma of the buds. I dont think I have done many the same I try and vary the times as much as possible. I learn from every harvest about what that strain needs to bring out its best. This last harvest I had 2 cobs go over time and it didn't bring out their best. Luckily the rest were spot on and are crazy stinky and crazy good all the things you like rolled into one. Next harvest I will probably tweak that recipe again to try and get them even better.

I didn’t open the cobs after the sweat. I’ll remember that next time. The smell was enough to let me know the action of fermentation was underway.
They’re tucked away in a dark, warm spot for a week. I’ll open them next Wednesday. At least one of the two will be fermented another week. We had another member who got real excited and did a cob with an ounce and a half of buds he’d already jarred up at 62% humidity. It’s looking interesting. He knows not to expect a really good fermentation, but he’s happy with the way things are progressing. I have two more harvests in the next month or so - it’s hard to get some of thes girls to finish in my garden. They keep popping out fresh, new white hairs. Lol! I’ll be cobbing ever plant I take down from now on. I’m a sativa girl all the way. The daughter I grow for is an indica babe. We’ll have cobs of each to play with. I’m interested in seeing what effects you get with an indica. When my friends get the bug to start testing this will be exciting. At least two of those subscribed to the thread are in legal states and have their product tested regularly. In another year we’ll have a better picture of what’s going on with fermentation and we can be introducing cobs as medicine. This was quite the rabbit hole. Lol! |

I'm very interested in seeing the difference between Sativa and Indica cobs.

Great info! I'm officially on board. Thanks Tangwena and Sue for lighting my curiosity. I am going to cob most of my next harvest. So having never done this I'll follow the flow chart but I would like to know Tangwena, when you do a strain for the 1st time, what do you look for to tell you have a good sweat time and temp? Then when you are fermenting what clues do you go by to say that is at the right point to start the cure? Lastly during the cure, I see you are supposed to open them every week or handful of days. What are you looking for here? Do you open the cob each time during this period and if so for how long? Sorry lots of questions but I'm in learning mode.

Neiko... good to see you over here. Tangwena, meet one of my favorite growers of high-grade sativas.
I opened the cobs so I had a point of reference and then resealed them and found the warmest appropriate spot in my apartment. Cob #1 Cob #2 You bet I’m having fun! |
