Definitely Seedsman, a pioneer and commercial success!!
Cannabis ruderalis was first classified in 1924 by the Russian botanist D.E. Janischevsky. He came across cannabis plants growing wild in Central Russia, and noticed that they were different from the Hemp varieties (Cannabis sativa) grown throughout Asia and Europe. From there, things morphed or other ruderalis specimens were discovered and worked, re-worked, cross bred with hybrids or sativas and indicas. The work continues......

Ithink whatever seedbank/breeder, the name escapes me, that made the original ruderalis crosses back in the 70s and 80s are the ones who should get the credit. They made the indica ruderalis, skunk ruderalis, and even a mexican ruderalis along with others available for sale. Its this mexican ruderalis cross that I'm certain led to the seeds jointdoctor used. Maybe they made up some story about some mysterious ruderalis from mexico or more likely they misunderstood the guy he got it from or the guy they got it from lied to them.
Regardless, without those first breeders making those original crosses, even though they abandoned the project, we wouldn't be where we are. Jointdoctor would've never got that mexican ruderalis and wouldn't have made lowryder that started the auto boom. Yes nowadays there are breeders going back to pure ruderalis but they most likely wouldn't have seen the potential in them without seeing what lowryder could produce and lowryder wouldn't have happened if it weren't for those long forgotten about crosses. So whoever bought those seeds from that bank and ignored everyone telling them they just bought ditchweed seeds and worked them anyway is the person who should get credit right along with those bredders that made the crosses. Edit: Sorry just reread the original post, I guess lowryder would be the main plant used to make autos. Some companies have made their own version of lowryder that is also used and then theres the true breeders that are going back to pure ruderalis plants to make autos. Anyone that has watched videos about ruderalis on youtube knows that they are not all small, dwarf plants. Its thoe breeders that are using the larger ruderalis plants that will be the real future of autos. If I want an auto sativa I don't want some small 18-24" plant. I want a plant that will grow to somewhat resemble a true sativa, even if it is only 4-5 ft tall. |

I think it was E Small in Canada? But his genes were not used by others to make Autos.
Nevil was first to make Autos with a Hungarian Ruderalis and disseminate them, but they were not so great as they never stopped making flowers and never really matured and frosted out. I grew them once, that was enough. -SamS |

As I am sure you are aware, Charles is using Mighty mite as previously mentioned for canada, I believe the afghan a has some autoflowering in it as well. I am not 100% sure though what he is using for his new auto lines.

I want any pure Ruderalis or Auto varieties, any.
Just a dead dry leaf will do, for our DNA project work. -SamS Last edited by Sam_Skunkman; 07-26-2015 at 02:48 PM.. |

You might be in luck Sam.
While not pure rudy, I'm harvesting some autos I made using Diesel Ryder as my auto gene donor. Shoot details to my in box.
