The Lotus of Nepal

So... Season 2015 for a bit of outdoor (Actually, crap plastic greenhouse)..

I've got a whole load of early outdoor varieties on the go.. Manitoba Medicine F2's, Shanti's mystery swiss outdoor and C-rays G-Warp. Among these I've got a couple of Chimera's Nepalese Temple x Blockhead and a couple of White Lotus x Jack.

The idea was that I was going to grow out the NT x BH and WL x J, take cuttings, sex the plants and then pass any female cuts on to a close friend with an indoor set up. After that I was pretty much going to cull the seed plants because of space restrictions.

Anyway, long story short, I've decided to keep the plants and see how they fair against the pitiful excuse we call weather in my part of the world (no prizes for guessing where).

These plants are going to get some tough treatment and if the crap greenhouse doesn't fold over and kill everything inside (I'm thinking it's around a 60/40 chance at the moment), then my busy life and horrible time management might finish them off (I'm actually a pretty attentive gardener; recently though things have been crazy busy).

I had three NTxBH to begin with but one was a super-duper mutant and although I wanted to keep it space and forward thinking meant it went to compost. Here's an ugly pic before her demise..

The other one that was popped around the same time.. This one has also displayed has some weird leaves but I'm thinking it'll pull through. This small plant is already throwing out a deep musk which is very pleasant but also makes me paranoid for the future. I'm thinking this one might go quite purple with some low temps in a few more months.

And here's a little group shot (some of the other plants aren't in the shot. The WLxJ are still seedlings, bottom left and another NTxBH just above) ....

Since this will be a long haul thread I won't be updating it very regularly with pics etc. I might post some silly shit, or other useless crap, and anybody is welcome to come in here and either join in or laugh at my attempts to keep the plants alive (don't worry, they'll be ok)..

I might pop more as time progresses and things open up a bit, we'll see how it goes....

I have some pretty close links with Nepal and have spent quite a while in the country in the last 15 years (hence the avatar). Seeing as I'm hoping that the Nepalese Temple x Blockhead will be the star of this show I thought I would give this thread a Nepalese theme..

This isn't my picture but it is pretty close to what you'll find higher up in rural Nepal..

The best hash I've ever had came from Nepal (exactly where was lost in translation) and I've never found such smile inducing hash anywhere else.. I've got a few friends in the country who've lost their homes in the recent earthquakes and it doesn't look as though things are going to get better for a while. Those with little wealth will suffer...

Kathmandu holds quite a few memories for me; being taken to a strip bar by an Italian friend on my birthday and then the place being raided by the police (basically the military), Maoist revolutionary’s throwing hand grenades around the streets, having the airport shut down and being stuck there... all kinds of adventures...

Anybody else been to Nepal or spent time there?

Raspaul, thanks for the vote of confidence.

All the early varieties, except the Swiss plant, have been grown outside by me before with varying degrees of succes. They're all good early finishers with some individuals being semi auto. I'm definitely going to get something from the early birds..

The blockhead series has been tested and show some promise for the greenhouse.. So I'm giving them a shot.. The mix with the Nepalese will hopefully give the plants even more resistance since it's natural habitat is quite unforgiving.. It's going to be an interesting experiment.

The White Lotus / Jack hybrid might not stay and get passed on after sexing. I was just brining these up but depending how much I like the look of them they might stick around.

More of the Nepalese might get popped. Still deciding since I've germinated too many early outdoor seeds at present.... There's always people looking for plants though so some might be passed on...

They're all organic by the way, molasses, seaweed, mycorrhizal fungi, bit of mineral rock dust, natural silicon.. The soil isn't my own since I don't have time to mix it etc at the mo..

Going to be good..

Yeah man, outdoor can sometimes turn out brilliantly. I can remember a single plant of Amstel gold, grown on the side of a hill with a bunch of others, curing to the exact smell of lavender (there were no lavender plants around either). Although usually quite a lot weaker (in this climate anyway), sometimes outdoor weed just has that certain something you can't find in indoor.

I've actually never made hash myself. A couple of years ago, when I did a few big outdoor grows with a friend, he made little off the trim. I know a guy who acquires rather good imports so I'm usually good for charas, hash and oil etc.

I need to invest in some decent bubble bags if I decide to do any this year. Plus it all depends on the final outcome. If I end up with a lot of leafy greasy plants then I might consider it...

Do you run your trim?

Haha, yep.. Back in the day when so few had their hands on weed. Pretty much all soap bar until the place was flooded with red seal and gold seal. Big lumps of red plastic throughout the soft black resin. Back then it all seemed so authentic until it suddenly dawned on you that the stuff wasn't that good for you... Explains all the lousy headaches you'd get. So glad I can get good stuff now..

yeah I can remember the plastic gear Kal lol we used to call it diesel these ways used to come around when there was a drought on, I had a pretty decent supplier and when that s**t came around I'd always be able to move onto Jamaican imports or some other stuff that we used to call commercial but yeah it took me until I was about 17 to realize how bad it was and funnily enough it was after I got back from my uncle's stag do in Amsterdam .

Had a bit of disaster today..

Very strong cyclonic winds trashed my pathetic excuse for a greenhouse last night. Was up in the morning on a rescue mission trying to selvedge what I could.

Two plants bit the dust completely and a few seedlings were completely out of their pots, bare rooted to the elements. Greenhouse I put back together as best I could.. The wind was so strong it broke the rope holding it down and uprooted the bottom of the frame that was buried under a foot of gravel and stone. Was very late for work I guess summer has yet to arrive here...

The two NT x BH survived and, I think, the two White Lotus x Jack did as well. Lets just hope they get through their re-potting experience.

Things were going so well.....
