Identical Twins?
Been running a few of Verdant Green's Cherry Bombs and made some seeds with a plant that's almost finished. Made a lot more than I intended so as a learning experience, I pulled a few mature seeds just to see if they would pop, being so fresh. Checked backed the next day and all 4 had germed, showing nice strong tails. In fact 1 of the seeds had thrown 2 tails, 1 slightly longer than the other.
Should have taken a picture of the seed but just wanted to quickly throw into dirt and see if it would sprout. Have grown for several years and never seen this before and can't remember a post from anyone else showing this. Just wondering if they will both produce the same sex and pheno? Are they considered identical twins? Do freaks like this usually go hermie? This may be more common than I realize and has been covered in the past but I don't recall seeing or reading any posts. Thought this would be a good place to ask and someone be interested in seeing these twins. Keif

I had twins from a Qleaner seed, one was male and one was female. The smaller runt was the male. I never did separate them and as soon as I got pollen I collected it and then chopped the male. The female never hermied and I got a few hundred seeds from the lowers from the male twins pollen but I haven't grown any yet.

I have a couple seeds that I can tell are doubles just by looking at them. Some BOG strains have been known to produce twins and a bubba cross we made has made one or two twin seeds.
They likely will be too close together in the roots for them both to thrive. I'd try to separate them as early as possible, and like a surgeon try to limit the stress to each. Then see how they do from there. It'll be interesting to watch their progress and how similar they end up to each other. Good luck! |

Mother nature took care of this matter. The taller of the two sprouts decided to check out early, found it flopped over dead this morning. The little one looks great though and I will carry on with the baby left standing. KS
