My Speed Queens..
hi peeps..
this is my first post on here... though ive been a keen grower for a few years now... i would like to share these images of my current grow.... the strain is Speed Queen as u probably guessed from the name of the post!!! anyway... here are the latest pix of my ladies... some are about 5 weeks into flower and others are 4 weeks.... these plants have been such a joy to grow... and relatively hassle free to... https://www.weedfarmer.com/pictures/v/DankBudZ/ that is the link to my gallery at WeedFarmer i update this on a regular basis so if anyone is interested in seeing my grow u can follow it there... Mandala Seeds are a really great seed bank imo... Mike has helped me out with a lot of stuff while ive been growing this strain thru emails,,, and their seeds are priced really fairly to... i dont see how these other seedbanks can charge the ridiculous prices they ask for their seeds... i plan on growing a few other mandala strains in the near future... im keen to try Kalichakra, and Satori to... once i go back to college i will be purchasing these strains for my future grows... |

hi Blunted!
I think you'll feel quite comfortable yourself here. This is a very helpful site. When can we see some new pics about your grow? The most of my SQs grows fine but some can't develop cause the bad soil. I planted some plants to "black soil" and worm castings mix but they can't grow cause the lots of rain. The roots can't get enough oxigen so I should transplant them to some new soil mix. pics later.. Best wishes!! NG Last edited by New Grower; 07-04-2006 at 05:18 PM.. |

hey jbars...
thanks for the comments... they are actually quite a mild smelling strain compaired to what ive grown in the past.. when u put ur nost close to the tops and sniff they smell quite spicy i think... when ive grown in the past when it got to flowering time the plants used to stink out my entire house... but with these ladies only when u are close to the closet can u smell them... which is quite good imo... |

2 of them have another 7 days left going by the time that mandala recommends for this strain... and the other 2 have 14 days left...
i reckon that the 55 days flowering time that mandala suggest for this strain is going to be pretty much bang on i reckon... looking at the trichs at 100x magnification i can see that there are some trichomes starting to go amber... i want a 50/50 mix of cloudy and amber... I wouldn't expect to see 50:50 amber:cloudy on most strains, even if you let them go weeks longer than recomended. I've had some strains never show more than 5% amber trichs no matter how long I left them. And IMHE all the different strains I've grown seem to max out at about 25-30% amber trichs.. Also, there will always be a few clear trichs in there. Better to watch the trichs and the entire plant, and make a descision based on the whole picture. Like dead/alive pistil % and whether she's done fattening up. Personaly I like to harvest at about 10-20% amber, and at least 80% dead pistils. But everyone is different. Just wanted to give you a heads up as you may wait forever to see anywhere close to 50% amber. Last edited by beancounter; 07-12-2006 at 12:59 PM.. |

thanx beancounter...
this is actually the first grow where i have known about using the trichomes as a guide to when to harvest the plants... every grow i have done in the past ive harvested them when around 75% of the pistils changed colour... like i said there are now some trichs starting to go amber now... i was kinda hoping for 50% amber... but if when the 55 day mark comes up im taking them down regardless of the trichs... i reckon though that there should be a good amount of them turned amber by the time i go to cut them down... the tops are still growing like crazy to... this should slow down over the next couple of days though... ive been reading a lot of stuff lately on the vairous cannabis growing forums... and have noticed that a lot of ppl like to leave their girls in complete darkness for 48 hours b4 they harvest them... i think i read that this makes the plants produce more resin and also puts most of the carbohydrates down into the root system... can anyone here tell me if this is really worth doing or not?? |
