Auto Berry Ryder (Guerilla Grow)
Good afternoon growers,
I am starting an outdoor guerilla style Auto Berry Ryder grow experiment on April 12th. That is two weeks earlier then when I usually start planting outdoors. This auto strain is described by the breeder as having a great amount of cold resistance. I intend to put that cold resistance to the test in my chilly mid-west early spring weather The seed will be soaked in water on Friday and then transported to the prepared grow site on Sunday April 12th. The prepared grow site utilizes the contractor bag guerilla method with a nice airy peat/perlite mix. This will be a direct sow as autoflowers don't respond well to transplant. I will upload one or two pictures every Sunday until completion or failure. I will upload the first picture one week after sowing on Sunday April 19th. Wish me luck

Ideally you would want an 18/6 light schedule to get the largest possible autos. However, I have planted autos outdoors in late April and got massive four foot tall autos that branched out wider then some photos. If you plant them in good loose airy soil with mycorrhizae they can get quite large outdoors. Usually about five gallons of light airy growing medium is sufficient to allow them to make leaps in size during their short vegetative period. I am planting a little earlier than normal as an experiment. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Thanks for stopping by. Tune in every Sunday to see my progress.

Lil Berry Ryder (One Week Old)
I decided to visit the grow site and snap a picture today because it's going to rain tomorrow.
I was going to use the contractor bag method, but the native soil looked so good that I decided to just drop my soil in the hole with no bag. You will notice my homemade onion bag fencing. I took a used duct tape role and fastened in onion bag to it with a rubber band. If you look really closely you will notice that I have stuck tooth picks intermittently throughout the soil. You may also notice human hair sprinkled on top of the soil along with cayenne pepper and cinnamon. In the early stages of the plants life, it is necessary to have layers of defense against wildlife. The last thing you want is to come back to your grow site and find everything dug up by wildlife. |

Hey brother, I will be watching this! I like how much protection you are giving your baby girls, I know personally how much deer and things like racoons and rodents can fuck things up if you don't.
BUT, having said that, you really, really should not be using that bright orange fencing...Get chicken wire and paint it black so it does not glisten in the sunlight. That way you do not need to use those bamboo stakes either you can make a cage out of chicken wire that totally encloses the plant...Make the top of it nice the bottom sharp cut end so if a deer or anything sticks its face close it will get pricked. That orange fencing stands out like a sore thumb and I know it will only be on for a short time but chicken wire is dirt cheap and will actually work better anyway...Lasts forever too. Still using the same cages from 4 years back myself. |

Hi,
Thanks for your input. You're exactly right, it does stand out too much in the forest. I am playing a dangerous game at this spot with such a noticeable little fence. The good news is that it's literally planted deep woods in the middle of black berry thorn bushes. You can't see it unless you are standing a foot away looking over the bushes I will remove the fencing as soon as it gets about one foot tall. From then on, I will just reapply cayenne pepper and cinnamon after ever rain. On my main grow sites I use the cut to fit plastic garden mesh fencing. It works real well for me and is almost invisible from 10 feet away. Around the second week of May I will be starting another grow at my main grow site. I will be running an Auto Blue Kush. That grow will employ the plastic mesh fencing. The main threat to this lil Berry Ryder is going to be the cold. This entire grow is just one big experiment to see how well she will grow in 60 degree days and 35 degree nights lol. Wish me luck ![]() Quote:

Lil baby Berry Ryder two weeks from sow
Good evening growers,
I hope all of you are doing well and in good health. You will be pleased to learn that my lil baby Berry Ryder is still alive. This week has been brutal in terms of weather. Lil Berry has had to endure freezing nights every night this week with lows in the low 20s! She has had to endure brutal winds as well, with wind chill values dropping the temps even lower!!!I was worried about Berry today and so I came to the grow site to check on her. She looks fine and so far this cold experiment is a complete success. I have learned just how badass these genetics truly are. Only an absolute badass of a plant could shake off night after night of below freezing temperatures, high winds, and frost, and continue to grow. The day time temperatures have barely reached the low 50s. I never thought my little cold weather grow experiment would turn into an experiment of growing weed in a freezer. My area had an unusual cold snap and shit got real fast. I didn't even cover her or do anything to protect her from the frosts. She is an absolute beast!!!

Lil Baby Berry 3 weeks from sow
She is going to outgrow that fence this week so I just removed it and put a bunch more cayenne pepper and cinnamon on the soil. I am thinking that Lil Berry will have a bright future.
