well i have done two grows both with fluoros, i was using about 350 watts on two plants. total i got about 2.5oz on the first grow and about 3 on the second. i like fluors cause they keep rather cool and they are easy to vent. its about time to step up for me tho and get that hps so i can get alot more yield on my harvest
this is an early pic of my tub...i will throw more up when i put them on the site |

240 watts floro (phototron) with one chronic plant got me 2 oz.
It could have done more if I let the plant veg longer but I don't like large plants. |

350 watt's of flouro's is about the same heat or more compared to 350 watt's of hid lighting. keep in mind these hps bulb's get hot, but theres only one bulb not 20 of them.
same example as to why 2 70 watt hps's run hotter than 1 150 hps even though it's 10 watt's less. more bulbs equal more heat. when i was growing with a 150 i was using about the same ventilation as a person with 150 watt's of flourecent lighting used. 1 80 mm cpu fan for exaust, passive intake and a fan blowing air around inside my grow box. temps ran about 80 F Last edited by sm0kateer4204; 06-29-2006 at 07:01 AM.. |

^- dont hid lights produce infrared light ? and that means that the heat isnt from just the bulb, but also its quality of light? cfl bulbs may put out more heat than hid's, but they are dispersed more evenly throughout the growspace and bulb. this makes it easier to cool than hids, where the light and heat comes from a single source. just me .02c

more heat is harder to cool than less heat, it doesnt matter where the heat is or how evenly dispersed it is. the heat is still going to be there.
