The longest you've cured.

What's the longest you've done a cure? Was it worth it? I've noticed huge difference in dry -vs- few weeks -vs- a month of cure. But where does it end? I mean, I'm not going to sit on my smoke for years..

Just curious and looking for opinions,

L

someone had a nug that cured for over a year, the nug turned pure gold too, it looked so delicious!

i think the curing process is like aging of liqour and fine wines

the longer the better!

i have bluemoons, hashplant, and lsd that has been curing for 9 months...tastes,smells,and is the same potency as it was after 1 month of curing, maybe just a little smoother.....i just gave away the last of my outdoor from last year that was curing since sept...i think the quality went down with that...seemed to lose it's smell and flavor that is really good with outdoor smoke......i think the best thing to do is after 1-3 month cure is to freeze it if your gonna keep it around.

1-3 is about as long as it last me sometimes

Yea, the color change is cool too. Always more golden or a lighter brown green. gotta love nice, well cured, buds. It's like the texture is better too. Breaks up just right and burns perfectly.

ok well shortest I've gone before smoking after harvest is : 5 days lol (simply air dried and smoked)
and longest I've gone before smoking after harvest is : 2 months (air dry then Jar cure)

My cousin got some 1.5 yr old from his last grow and some 3 month old ...

In A'dam I saw 19-20yr cured top bud ... I think it was in a coffeshop ... this was a few (like 1997) years back ... but it was in a vacuum sealed bell .... and had lights on it (like a musem piece lol)
but even after that ... it had hash on the outside of the bud .. a real dark thick resin looked almost solid ...

Maybe a bulldog ... downstairs?

Someone tell me I wasn't trippin lol

Peace

I'm with you on that the longer the better, I usually cure for at least 3 to 6 months but I have had bud that I hid and didn't find till it had cured for over a year that was some of the best I have ever smoked.

I have cured buds for about 18 month and have sampled a mate's buds cured for as long or longer as well as sampling the buds at various stages in between.

I think there are definately some changes to the bud which occur over such a long cure. Generally the smoke is smoother but with a little less flavour. The smell and taste changes becomming more complex, but the intensity of the smell diminishes also.

The high changes becomming more sedative and a littly more cloudy with such a long cure. A heady sativa can become more sedative like an indica hybrid over a very long time. The potency also goes down a little. Overall its a real plesure smoking buds cured for that long and its definately a bit different. But probably the optimum is less than 6 months.

It also depends on the strain. Some strains (eg Blueberry) store well and will maintain their quality for a longer period.

I've cured bud at room temp. for a month or two then put in the fridge after spraying some Private Preserve (CO2 etc.) in the jar to remove the oxygen. After a year the bud is still fresh and just wonderful.
