Thanx for answering my question DF. That's kinda what I thought. I just wanted to get some opinions. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread Marlo.

I've "collected' quite a bit of soil down in the basement after going through several rounds. I like to close the circle so to speak anyways and it's very impractical to me to simply chuck out soil every run and just smacks me as wasteful. No soapbox or dissing what anybody else does mind you. I have two 50 gallon bins cooking right now that I'll end up using outdoors for veggies now. I've always play around with different mixes and also end up going with some bottled nutes towards the end. I've never had that mix it up and water only all the way to the finish line without having some yellow on me. This run I've got all my glues in a reamended mix and nobody got pissed and burnt. Bigger pots are definitely the key as some of you have stated. I've always run 5 gallon pots and have transitioned over to 7 gallons now and that has helped. Vegging bigger girls for less overall plants with bigger pots is better. Monocropping will make this easier as well. All the girls will be on the same page regarding how they are eating, etc.

Get Mo - I don't think there is a "legendary mix" in such words - just a soil mix that works.

The NSPB = Natural Selection Pharmaceutical Botany: Full Life Formula - was a personal project of mine that has to date yet to see fruition.

Any specifics on such can be found in the sticky at the top of the Stank Bros sub-forum.

Ive been dorking around with organic soil as well, but ive only used prebagged soil. Been talkin to DF and have been sourcing amendments for creating my own and might give it a whirl this next go around.

Well, it's truly flattering that my name would even be uttered on the lips of your crew, Stoney. I got a lot of respect for that group of growers...yourself included. It's good to know that people have a bit of faith in all the information that I take the time to provide and post. YEAAAAAAAA, I'm not wasting my life...hahahha.

I thought I linked you to a site in PM that carries pretty much all the stuff on that list - but shipping on 50# bags is about 3x as much as the amendments themselves...lol. So unless you are ordering a 1/2 pallet worth of stuff (which some of you bigger guys very well may NEED to do for future prep and having stuff on hand) you'll really eat shipping costs....

That was part of the reason I made the "basic amendment recipe" - to try and create a list of what I considered the bare essentials, but also to make sure it was a list of things that could be gotten in a more local setting...you know, big box stores, farm/feed supplies, hydro stores, local garden centers, etc.

I'll do my level best to try and provide any information I can to be of some sort of use around here...

Aside from the dry molasses and the beneficial bacterias - there is a lot of freedom in what you get.

Dry molasses should be Stockade Kandy Kid. For people that don't want a massive bale of it - there is a company called Soil Mender Products - which *I THINK* buys and repackages the Kandy Kid in smaller quantities. I can not confirm this to be the case 100% - but I'm pretty sure that is what they are doing.

T and J Enterprises BioVam - google it
BioAg Vam Endo mix - google it

The other thing I know I've commented on in the past about the "Basic Amendment Recipe" - is there are different types of bone meal. The key here - is to keep away from products that have a high level of N in the Bone Meal. I know the big box stores carry Miracle Grow Organic Bone and it is 6-9-0 ... which is not ideal. Look for products that are 0-10-0 (Ferti-lome) or one of many companies that offer Steamed Bone meal - or my favorite, fish bone meal, which is usually something like 3-15-0.

So there is a bit of knowing what products to use...and like anything else there are certainly varying "grades" of quality available.

Also worthy of note - the Azomite I use in this mix IS NOT the micronized for irrigation systems. It is the "slow release" version of the product - which is a mixture of various particle sizes. It is basically a mixture of micronized + pelleted for a release rate that is instant + more long term consistency. If all you can find is the micronized - REDUCE application rates to 1/4c in that recipe.

The Seabird Guano I use is pelleted and comes from a bulk supplier called Blue Ocean Organics - which is the same source supplier for companies like Sunleaves, etc...

I personally like a good balanced mixture of dry stuff and use it as a top dressing indoor and out... super lazy and when all my inputs are there I always get great results, the plant naturally expresses it's max floral quality... then for yield you can use compost teas, botanical teas and seed sprout teas if you want to and have the time.
