This mix is great stoney. I've never tried re-using soil, but I'm interested in hearing what people have to say.... I have used this mix in the past and have some girls waiting to be flipped in this mix as well. I just keep the mix consistent, and pot em up when the roots fill out. Never had a problem. As long as the pots are big enough for the trees, they will stay green the whole time with just water.
These aren't trees, but the beds were +/- 80 gallons each. About 75% of the soil used was this mix. The other 25% was DF's NSPB. 8 GG4's... I veg'd for 30-40 days and flowered for 68. Water only and these girls were very very happy right up until chop. This mix and amount of soil could have easily supported much bigger plants with a longer veg, and stronger lights, as there were almost no yellow leaves at harvest. This amount of soil proved to be too much for this room and the size plants I was running. Now I'm down to 10-12 gallon containers with 1 plant each. Still plenty of space to get some decent sized plants in my room. I'm currently veg'n this round a bit extra just to fill out the pots better. Good Luck Stoney

The taste was absolutely incredible. It was my 1st run with GG4.
Another run I did was also in organic soil, with the same mix. But it was in much smaller pots and I was top dressing weekly. The plants didn't do as well all around. They did have a chance to yellow out quite a bit before harvest. If I had to pick between the two, I'd pick the 1st run. The taste was pretty much identical, but the plants were so much healthier and yielded more with alot less work. Which is why I'm somewhere in the middle right now with the 10ish gallon pots

Stoney, just remember that Phil always had to make adjustments for more needy girls. If you're gonna try certain OGs or Sours in this mix then water only won't cut it. If you got the right girl in the proper amount of this mix, it really is a nice and simple way to operate.

Melty - check the sticky at the top....
The mix is far adjusted from what it originally once was...there is even a picture documnetation there that shows the differences. So...the mix listed in the sticky, is a true water only approach. ![]() However, you can always take the plants and push them harder...and this is pretty much what I do when I'm trying to push the plants for yields vs keeping them more headstash. If trying to push plants a bit harder for yields: wk2: 1/4 tsp Thrive Alive B1 (green label) wk 3: 1 tsp of Earth Juice Meta-K 2 tbsp of Budswel Liquid (yellow) wk 4: 1 tsp of General Organics Cal/Mg wk 5: 1 tsp Earth Juice Meta-K 2 tbsp Budswel (yellow label) Which is info that is also in the sticky. ![]() Thanks for chiming in Melty! Seems you might have run Phillthy's mix before? Would you mind sharing the adjustments you had to make? If for no other reason than to give Stoney some extra information and the bit of knowledge in the back of his mind for that just in case scenario... ![]() dank.Frank

Here's a shot of an old ECSD in about 9 gallons of Phils mix (original mix). You can see that she already chewed through most of it. Up till 30 days flower she was stylin on water only. She required feeds to make it to the finish line. Obviously not all plants take it like the Sour, but just an example of thinking the plant size to gallons of mix is proper and quickly realizing it's not.

Personally - 200 gallons is enough dirt to compost individually in their respective containers. I see no real benefit to be gained by leaving it all in one massive pile if you can't turn it and redistribute the heat out from the center of the mound.
