LED distance from plants? Supplemental 24W (x2) - LED Grow Lights - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

Hello, hoping someone can help me figure out what distance to mount my LED lights from my plants. I know this varies from brand to brand, but here goes...I have 2 girls blooming under a 250watt HPS in a 4x2x4' tent. I just got a pair of Apollo 24 watt LEDs to fill in the sides that the HPS doesn't reach well. I know this is low caliber stuff, but I'm worried I'll fry my happy plants experimenting. Can anyone help me? There seems to be a lack of info on using these bulbs as supplemental lighting.

I would try to mount them as close as possible, and try to setup where you could easily move the lights further as your plants grow oiut. I would say try to keep them 4"-6". You could actually get closer.
Just for some reference i am running a single 1000w LED panel on a crop of mine and i have it 12" from the tops. A few plants even clpser. No problems whatsoever, in fact i could even get closer. My temps at canopy lever are a stead 73f

Thanks CF! Each diode is 1 watt, and I know many of LEDs people are using are 3-5 watts each. So it makes sense that these wimpy LEDs can be fairly close. Right now I have them at the height of my HPS light which is about 18" away from my tops. I'll move them closer tonight. Unfortunately I'm getting a little heat stress from my HID so I'm still adjusting slowly. My goal is to have them beam horizontally into the sides.
