I recently ordered the Black Widow because I had grown it in the latter 90's and was very impressed with the potency resin content and growth structure..
Well I had 18 for 18 germ rates and was also quite happy with this result..Female to male ratio was also very good..
Well the problem starts right after I turn the lights back..The tallest plants were 2.5 ft. and all fell between 2 -2.5 ft. mark...
2 weeks into flower and I realize I have major problems!!The plants are out of control in vertical growth so I tie the over the try to take up some of the stretch and this helps some....I already am starting to wonder at this point if I am growing BW because the plants I had grown in the late 90's were well branched but did not stretch out of control...At the 3 week mark they are all over 5 ft with no signs of slowing down.The branches are also stretching out of control..At this point there is not a whole lot of light room left vertically..They are already up to the point where I usually finish plants..I now started realizing that this was not the widow but a heavily sativa based hybrid..After researching it is easy to see that these plants are La Nina..
I had no want in the world to grow more sativas as I have been growing them for the last 7 to 8 months and needed something higher yeilding and loaded with trichomes..It's easy to see that these are the Nina because not only are they almost pure sativa in growth but are growing just like all the other Haze hybrids I have grown..A few look like they might be worth looking at as a keeper plant but many are showing little to no resin and look like they could take forever at this point..I can only think of La Nina or Neville's and the Neville's carries more Haze odor than these plants have.Well the descriptions I have read about La Nina say to force early indoors or plants can get out of control as mine are and also the high is not at all what I'm after...
I hope you can see why I am so disappointed...These came in the new dated breeders packs and I'm sure you remember that I was one of the couple of people over at CW that got ripped off by World Wide Seeds on a pack of Super Silver Haze that were definitely not SSH..It would not even get you high..I never recieved or was offered any replacement seeds for the SSH but after going through this mess now I certainly hope you will replace these El Ninos for what I was supposed to get..Actually I should get replacements for both because I never got to grow out either strains even after paying big bucks,especially for the SSH(no breeder packs from WWS..)
If you need to see the pack and # sticker just let me know..(for the Black Widow)
Please let me know if this can be fixed as I still want to grow the Widow,hell Iwas hoping to be harvesting Widow in 5 or 6 weeks...

hi capt, i would wait until they finish to be sure, ive had the same issue with my bw pack from 2002( yellow pack)i was convinced they were mixed up and i got ssh insted but i was wrong, the growth pattern is like yours very strechy and branchy but the shape of buds is very diffrent to haze,much smaller cylex and very diffrent smell more fruity then spicy.i did have some pheno's that didnt strech but most did.looking at the perents of bw this makes sence but ww when it came from ghs wasnt such a strecher why the diffrence i dont know.
i do know that bw from mrnice is some very potent weed and the pheno i kept is a killer in all aspects,it finishes 75 days and smells like mango tastes like it smells and comes on very fast and strong again very potent.even though it is very stavish the yield is exelent.very good for scrog grows ,but evenwith out scrog just top it once in a 10 liter soil it will give 100gr.

I just spoke to a very close friend in the usa who had the same problem with his Black Widow seeds from Shanti Babba. I don't post bull and i did not grow these seeds but the person who did taught me alot about growing and knows his stuff. He is still flowering now @10 weeks and says it is 2+ meters tall. I will update as possible and will get the date we bought the seeds as we meet in amsterdam and we bought the seeds from GNs together. I can confirm they came in the original packaging.
Not bashing just confirming that you are not alone.

Thanks for the comments bro..I've always enjoyed chatting with ya..
My stuff is over 4 weeks now and a few have little bud material to show for the time..I've have talked (in PM) to Shanti twice about the makeup of the Widow and they are supposed to be the exact same as the ones that won the cup back in 94'(I think thats the date..)
The ones I grew out back then were much,much more indica dominated than the plants I'm growing now..Shorter bushier structure,,,much quicker to flower(all plants) and much more indica looking in the bud structure.
All plants are stretching out of control...Never dealt with this problem with the Widow I grew..Your keeper female looks frosted but still could be SSH..
White/Black Widow odor is very unique and I have none of this odor present in my plants..
They are growing like a Haze dominated hybrid(I have grown several of these..)1 plant has a slight Widow odor but all others more resemble Haze or a greeny odor...Certainly not that unique sweet odor of the Widow.I also have not a single plant without this sativa stretch..Only 2 or 3 are showing even decent resin at this point where the "other" Widow I grew would have all been coated at this point..(over 4 weeks)

Does your friend come to this site?Would love to see some pics of his plants if possible..And yes mine were in the sealed breeders packs from DG(she has never givin' me anything but the genetics I order...many,many,many packs of seeds!She does not bullshit with sending genetics!)They were from the new stock since Shanti was released from hell...
I'm forced to eith believe that there was a packaging mixup(from Mr. Nice)or the genetic makeup of the widow has changed..
I remember back on Overgrow when Pacific was growing out her Black Widow(3 or 4 years ago)and she was posting up pics that looked just like the "other" Widow I grew..At I think 23 days they were already frosted as hell and looked just like the plants I grew..
Something is amiss here!!
Hell 5 or 6 of my plants have absolutely no visable resin at over 4 weeks....This is NOT the Widow...
Hopefully Shanti will show up and let me know whats up???After wasting 5 almost 6 months growing the World Wide Seeds bunk Super Silver Haze I can only hope he will be sympathetic and take good care of me..
I love Shanti gear when I get what I order......(Spice,White Widow,Walkabout,and one or two others..)

after looking at the blownup version of your keeper pheno I find it hard to believe that it is Widow..Tooooo much sativa..It looks killer but not like any other Widow I have seen..

@ CC , My friend is a security fiend and does not really use the internet. He had the WW from 1992/3 /4 that was huge and white, he named one mom Snowflake for obvious reasons. So he too knew what he wanted and has not gotten it. He loves sativas and will let the lady flower as long as necessary and i will give info as i get it. He is a recluse to say the least.
Nice chatting and i have no vested interest except for curiosity.

like i said i dont disagree about the bw of today to be diffrent then the ghs version of the 90's as they do grow diffrent.
but again i dont think there was a mix up as i had the same problom.
i first grew 5 seeds when i first got it only ended up with one female not strechy
finishes around 70 days and very spicy sandlewood taste and smell just like a haze only i never had a haze where the taste was so strong more like a kali mist,nothing like what i expected but veriation is possible in a polyhybrid like widow.i kept it for 3 years and lost her. then i tried the rest of the seeds last year, exept 3 that i still have, looking for a mom like i lost. but i didnt find it.
found a few diffrent females some strechy and some not so. again i got smells i didnt expect and the strechy pheno like yours which is crazy like you say.
soon as you flip the lights they start growing like nothing else some days i couldnt belive the strech so i asked shanti about it in the old cw and was told it is nothing unusuall for the bw and some strech.
anyway i kept it as it has a very strong stone that is very paranoia inducing and comes on very fast, ive always thought that ive found the brazilian pheno but i realy dont know...
the resin on my plant is small in size but there is planty of it ,very sticky not the dry type,not very good for hash making,the taste is and smell is mango like i said.
ww as i knew knew it used to have more of a flowery medicine taste not so fruity,but some of my bw pheno's also had that taste somewhere in the backround.
i have some pic somewhere i will look for them
all together i tried many ww on the market from nirvana to hgf to dp and more and bw is still my favorite.
i would still love to know where those indica pheno's gone to.
