I don't use anything to mask the taste, it's not necessary. It's pretty simple to get the shitty weed taste out of the butter or oil you're using. There's two options that I'm aware of...
First option is the waste water extraction method Terpene describes in his stupid potent butter thread. After the first waste water rinse when you collect the butter or oil, either melt it back down and add water or boil water and add that to the container of butter or oil. Once the butter/oil has melted, put it back in the fridge and wait for it to harden/separate. Repeat until the waste water runs clear. Works like a charm though it takes a little while to allow for it to harden up each time. That's what she said. The other option is to wash the raw material itself before you start cooking with it. Decarb first, then let it soak in a big pot for 2-3 days in cold water, periodically changing the water out throughout until it clears up. No edible porn at the moment so you'll have to settle for a canna milk recipe I got years back instead. Works pretty well. Canna Milk Recipe 8 oz. of high quality trim (you can use buds, but trim works just fine. Also, milk doesn't have as much fat as butter by % so don't skimp on quantity or quality here. Use good trim and a lot of it.) .25 gal heavy cream .75 gal whole milk You can use a pressure cooker, crock pot, or double boiler to make this. Warm milk (don't boil) then add material Stir in and simmer for 4-8 hours, stirring occasionally Let cool, strain through cheese cloth Refrigerate or freeze Suggested dose is 1 oz at first. It's always wise in these instances to start low and work your way up. Onset can be a little terrifying to the uninitiated so tread lightly, and caution beginners accordingly. It has been mentioned to me by others who have tried the milk that it might not be best on an empty stomach. Just FYI.

It works pretty well to mask the flavor of BHO in my gummies, but I don't think you can 100% get rid of the taste. if I got rid of it too much people complain that they paid for nothing, and that there was no THC in the edibles. even though they got ripped off their ass and can't remember the last 2 days. |

I make my CannaOil a bit different than most and very few people can taste it in baked goods (brownies, cookies, raspberry bars, etc)
I take all my sugar trim from the entire grow and let it dry pretty good. I then do a quick run through a dry sieve to make kief. After all the trim is run through once I put it in a pot and cover well with Canola oil and heat to about 200 F. for about 4-5 hours stirring occasionally. I then let it cool and strain through a strainer and then cheesecloth, squeeze what oil you can out of the cheesecloth. I then put it back in the oil bottle and store in the refrigerator until needed. Just shake it well before using. When I look for a brownie or pastry mix I look for something that uses at least 1/2 cup of oil and some even call for 2/3 cup. I have also found some Krusteaz mixes (Raspberry Bars, Mmmmmmm) that call for softened butter, but the oil works just fine. When baking I try to find instructions that stay under 350 degrees. Never had a single complaint

Personally I think the water wash helps a lot, but I make butter twice as strong as intended so I can add more plain butter. The only dangerous part is that you have to label them well because you can't really tell it's in there anymore (with choc chip cookies).

I've never made the water wash butter/oil but I've always wondered if the water was the reason many people say it tastes bad as that seems to be the method most use.

I think the only reason I could taste it in the cookies I made was because it was such a disgusting smell that it's burned into my head. everyone else loved the cookies and got very very stoned. nobody could taste anything but a mild weedy taste. |

when we were younger we used to cook "bang" as we called it ... put a lot of shit into milk, cooked it for 3 hours and then drank the milk...it was disgusting but it got the job done. It got the job done very very well indeed...but we always hated the taste. So we started doing it differently.
Put your weed in milk and cook it on a low temperature until the milk becomes green. 45 min is more than enough (20-30min). Then make yourself a cup of black coffee and mix it 50-50 with the milk. Then add a small teaspoon of cinemon and thats that. For me, the fastest way of making a "marihuana edible" and the coffee and cinemon quite disguise the ganja taste. 1 dcl of green milk is more than enough to get you stupid high |

some of the nicest edibles lol nice job shishkaboy......... I have the same prob as OP .. taste of my chocolates taste just like the oil I put in it.. even after decarb lols. no clue how to remove taste
