I've made that exact tar.
There are ways of improving colour. Never tried them and I suspect WFF can give a better explanation than my guesswork. |

If you have some more older material, freeze your alcohol (and rosin) as cold as you can, and do a 5 minute quick wash and immediately filter. You need to have your filter ready to go before you wash. See if there is any color difference. You can also do a second and third wash once refrozen for 100% extraction (of cannabinoids). Again, I am not sure if the dark compounds can be avoided at this stage (without much more advanced chemistry techniques, that are way beyond my advice) since you are dealing with rosin. Maybe G.O. Joe or another guru could chime in... |

I am looking at freezer options. I have zero availability of dry ice. One place in town sells it and they are wholesale only. I asked a buddy to stop by and pick some up for me and they gave him the third degree about what he was doing with it, why he wanted it, blah blah. Fucking hillbilly ass state.
How about the things that frost glasses. I could set the trap in that. LOL Gotta be some other way to cool it down. Both the funnel and the flask were almost ice cold when I was done vacuuming. Why were they so cold? EDIT: Duh, never mind. It's always colder in a vac. Brain fart. |

Yummy... just like making ice cream, eh?
I did take high school chemistry. However, when I was in high school, there were only 9 elements. We worked on stuff like ..... fire. One of the guys in my class invented the wheel. That was pretty cool. I remember one guy in my class claimed he invented daylight. However, when he died, the daylight kept coming so we figured he was full of shit. Yeah, I remember those high school days like they were yesterday.

Hey gang..... Tips from Tommy here.
I actually learned this by accident. I work on a sheet of glass. It's my lab table and glass is nice and clean. So, a large part of my lab table is glass covered. Anyway, I had some of that runny rosin that is so difficult to gather. You try freezing it. You try heating it. You try beating it with spoon...... nothing seems to work. One such piece of parchment ended up being placed face down on the glass by accident. When I went to lift it from the glass, the rosin stuck firmly to the glass. Hmmm? I placed the parchment back down onto the glass and rubbed it with my fingers to press the rosin against the glass. A quick rip and the paper came clean off the glass. After that, I just took a razor blade and scraped the glass clean. Worked like a charm. Just thought I would pass that on. |

Hey gang, quick question... what did we decide was the optimal PSI for pressing flowers?
As I recall it was between 600 and 1000PSI and less for kief and hash. Also, I have some silk screen material that I used to use for bubble bags before there were bubble bags.. LOL Will that work in my rosin press or is it going to melt all over my plates? I believe that material is polyester isn't it? I would think that would melt real easy. Anyone? Thanks |

Could be nylon or polyester.
Probably wise not to use it unless you can verify. Some nylon has low heat tolerance. What's our gang sign? |

It says SEFAR PECAP LE and some numbers along the edge. A little Google says polyester as best I can read....
https://estore.tubelite.com/?product=tet110t-50-whpcle-2 Is polyester safe to use? |
