I have been pressing my flower at 234, and it comes out really sappy and almost impossible to collect. My buddy told me to try 220 and it made a huge difference, still a little sappy but easily collected. We pressed some super fresh strawberry banana that came out super stinky. We also tried some cbd flower he grew. They both came out almost clear.

Maybe the filter collect some of the waxes but unfortunately traps in a large amount of THCA as well. Now maybe a lot of this is strain dependant too, a lot more testing needed. Anyway I'm glad I shared my findings here. Now more of us can look into it further. So far anyone that has tried my rosin generally is content with one hoot and when I offer a second serving they say no. Not many people with shatter tolerance has tried it but it definitely has some kick. You are welcome to come and try LOL |

Or maybe the waxes pass through, THCA stuck behind, basically end up with a high end dabbable wax-oil-terp-goo!

I find dabs really depend on strain. Most stuff is pretty good, but the primo strain dabs are the ones you just need one big one. I would never say no at one, if it was tasty though.

Can anyone recommend a widely available parchment which doesn't have a wax coating?
I've been using RAW parchment for a long time (I bought a case) but noticed that the area where the patty was contacting the paper has been affected..not so noticeable if you only use each sheet once but if you reuse it,or press very terpene rich flowers it's quite noticeable, the paper feels less slick and is noticeably more transparent. I don't know what kind of treatment the RAW goes through but I am now wondering if whatever it is is in my rosin. I certainly can't see or taste it but I really have no-one to compare results with in person or discuss it with. Are the volatile or alcohol based terpenes stripping something off the paper? I've experimented with just heat and pressure and I am not getting the same effect, so the variable which is causing it is definitely the herb, and Original Glue #4 and UK cheese are the worst offenders for causing it, both produce sappy rosin and are noticeably more smelly than the other flowers I typically have to hand. Thoughts? Recommendations on parchment which definitely does not have a wax coating and stands up to pressing very terpy stuff without issues like I've described? I'm not asking from the POV of reusing sheets, I just don't want to be adulterating my rosin with whatever may or may not be coming off the surface of the parchment. |

Dont fear a lil more heat for the flowers 95 100c isnt crazy and still produces fire oil. If your getting white powder im sure its thca, have you tried a smoke of the powdery white "thca" stuff?

Terpenes may be swelling the silicone on the parchment. Maybe try PTFE for those varieties? I don't think a higher grade of parchment will make a difference, there shouldn't be a wax coating on any of it.

I have got a roll somewhere. Every time I've tried using it I seem to recall removal was a chore and there was a lot of smearing even straight out of the freezer or on a frozen cooler pack. I'll give it another go.

Yeah it is a pain in the ass. Try a directional fold maybe? At least it would be thicker where it flows.
Oilslick, Black Label and Dixie make a thicker parchment with a more durable coating. Maybe it will bleed less? I am too cheap to try any of them. Reynolds gave me less of that look you mention. Like live resin bleeding into a flap. I try not to store those types in parchment at all. Straight sided minerva jars are half decent. |
