Drying and curing

Detail the method that has given you your best smoke below please.

I'm going to give a few of them a try when I harvest my current lot to see which method produces the best (for me) smoke within a reasonable time frame

Cheers guys!

Wet trim down to small manageable flowers.Drying racks above 1 or 2 dehumidifiers (the sort used to dry damp rooms), the smaller flowers will be dry and ready to smoke in about 2 days, the rest done within 8 or 9.
I think this negates the need for a cure, captures the flowers as close as possible to the point at which they were harvested and means everything is ready, mould free and dry within 10 days.
This might be controversial

1. I pull all the big leaves by hand before I chop the plants
2. Chop the plants into separate branches and hang from laundry hangers. This is usually in the flower room - sometimes it's empty so they are in darkness; sometimes there are other plants in so 12/12 light cycle.
3. Check daily by branch bending. Once they get a slight crack sound they come down and go into large sealable tubs with a hygrometer to start the curing. I try not to keep them in these tubs too long, but it's down to available time to start trimming.
4. I manicure the buds from the branches and they go into mason jars with hygrometers. These jars are opened daily and the time they have open depends on the %RH. I usually aim for ~65% before I'm happy to leave them, but to be honest it's usually out the door by this point

I cut the fan leaves of and flower for it's last 12 hours, Leave in darkness for 24 to 36 hours, Cut it at base under green light and hang it up in darkness about 18 degrees or so with approx 45% humidity for as long as it takes really just depends on the size of the buds,' Usually 10 to 14 days, I can't get the humidity right in my drying place as the air is to dry,' My buds are dry in 10,When the stems are cracking when bending i brown bag for a couple of days and then jar up and burped daily for the first week and every other day the next week and so on

Chop entire plant at soil level and hang upside down fan leaves and all.

Dry in a dark place around 18c for as long as possible, usually about two to three weeks.

Once stems snap manicure buds and put in jars. So much more terpy than trimming wet, trust me I've done both.

They smoke perfectly without a cure.

Peace

Wow there is a few completely different methods already! Good thread idea!

Hang a plant for two months? That's interesting, I have done that by accident, smoke was fine.

My method is to trim wet, hang or net dry in my room where it is 72 and good air exchange. Usually 3 days, then cut off stems (the stems left on for first three days is to prevent to fast of a dry or the chance of overdry) and into a brown paper bag to sweat for 2-3 days before being jarred for cure. Easy peasy

Here's what I do:
1. Three days before harvest, remove all fan leaves/non sugar leaf.
2. Two days before harvest, no light until harvest.
3. Harvest plant(s) by removing flowers, and breaking up the clusters. I do not trim the flowers until they are ready to be jarred.
4. Place the cut flowers in a dry rack. I have a tent for this purpose, including exhaust.
5. Depending on the density of the flower, drying can be completed in as little as 4-6 days, however I've found that 7-10 days is my norm.
6. When the flowers are ready for the cure, I'll trim the sugar leaf, and then put into glass jars.
7. I place the jars in a dark place, and let them sit for 24 hours.
8. At 24 hours, I open the jars, noting the odor/relative humidity/general appearance.
9. At 72 hours, I repeat the above process.
10. At 7 days, I repeat the above process.
11. From 7 days, open about once a week, noting the odor/relative humidity/general appearance.
Hope this helps.
Happy Farming

Cut off individual colas, trim off all large fan leaves then trim leaves without sugar up to the sugar coated bit near the bud, place on drying screens with oscillating fan blowing gently over screens for 2 weeks and job done. Heater set on temp plug to 21c in the winter.
