MMJ's Strawberry Amnesia Medical Bushes

Hey guys and gals, I've been running three feminized seeds of Dinafem's Strawberry Amnesia in search of finding a relaxing uplifting sativa phenotype that is a little unique. I've vegged for two months and they are currently on day 10 of flowering - - I can't find any threads on this variety and they're starting to look and smell great so I figured I'd share some info with the canna world :)

I'll start from the beginning. Soaked three seeds in tap water overnight and planted directly into rockwool. Few days later these gals showed up! It was pretty bizarre, all three seedlings exhibited some form of mutation.

You can see #1 looks normal, #2 has the two cotyledons on the same side, and #3 is missing a cotyledon! #3 also came out as an albino so that had me petrified. After a few days it started gaining chlorophyll and funny enough, #3 is looking and smelling like the best one in the flower room so far (funny how that happens, the ones that start out 'weird' end up being the best. f***ing beautiful.)

after about 5 days I put them in their new 5gal DWC homes in the veg room:

Notice #3 growing a little funky? I've never really seen leaves like that.

More to come...

Here they are about a week later, looking (and smelling) happy:

all three had an extremely fruity smell when their young stems were rubbed. Not developed enough at this stage to tell specifics, but enough to know I was in for a treat.

fast forward a couple weeks, here they are at week three, right before my first FIM:

Also started what was supposed to be a Blue Dream but (I started another thread on this) ended up being something totally different. Here she is though in all of her unknown glory:

And of course got one of my Tahoe OG's rooted (my personal fave) so I thought it'd be fun to mess around with a hempy bucket:

So far my DWC has proven to be superior to the hempy, at least for me. I have about 8 years experience in DWC so it just comes naturally now. I've been running into EC and pH issues with the runoff and no matter what I do it's just all over the map. Unlike DWC, where you make changes to your rez in real time and see it happening immediately.

What can I say, I'm a bit of a control freak...

And here we are about a week after first FIM:

#3 branching out beautifully, a bit of space between nodes, very sativa like. #1 starting to exhibit it's indica dominant expression, short and slow growing. #2 is a happy medium. Happy with the diversity, I get to smoke all three and see which one I like best ;)

After second FIM it was time for some defoliation! The poor babies look a little naked here...

Also broke the back of the unknown super afghan to get some training going on it, but I was a little... buzzed... so it didn't go so smoothly. Nothing a little tape and time can't fix!

After stripping all those leaves away it broke my heart to just dump em in the bin, so I thought at least I can immortalize them with a super stereotypical pot-leaf peace sign picture.

Here they are at around 7 weeks, after 3 FIMS and two rounds of defoliation, almost right before flip:

Heres the Tahoe OG:

To bush this pretty lady out I did a bit of LST:

And heres a shot of two of them right before the flip, I had a lot to do in prep (a few rounds of sulfur burn, also designed some swanky containers for them, pics to follow) so unfortunately this is all I have to show as far as pics go. Nice and bushy, just like I like em:

I definitely have some good vibes in the room now though. There's nothing like looking at some sweet sativa doms filling the space under your lights... there's also nothing more fulfilling than watching your hard work pay off. :ying::joint:

Ready for some flower pics??

Well alright I jumped the gun, sorry to get you all excited, since they're only 10 days in, there are no flowers yet... just sexy pistils and good stretching.

But they will come I promise!!

Here is the container I designed for them. 18 gallon tote, covered in foil tape, hole drilled for net pot and I cut the lid and made a hinge out of tape so I can easily check EC, pH and add water/nutes.

I didnt do a recirculating because each plant feeds differently and I want to give them exactly what they need. I'm going for top shelf quality, so that means a little extra work which is fine by me!

Anyway, let's start far and end close. Here's the room with the four DWC tubs, under two 600's.

And I planned for having a bit of space in between so I can have a few hempys going, just for funsies. Here's the Tahoe OG in that sweet middle spot. I used a light meter and the room gets even lighting all throughout so even though it's in between, it's not at the cost of lumens.

After stretch is over this Saturday I'm going to get in there and clear out the lower canopy, take some clones, clean out some fan leaves so they can breathe.

Here we have phenos 1 and 2:

You can see pheno 1 is more squat, internodal length is really tight. Stem smell is very much like fresh cut strawberries:

Pheno 2 is a healthy mix of #1 and #3, medium internodal length, leaves not as thin as #3 but not as fat as #2. Stems smell spicy, like crushed black pepper (sorry for the blurriness):

Here's the unknown Afghan, beefy as heck. Stems smell kind of diesely:

Up next will be my favorite so far, #3 and the long time fave Tahoe OG!

I have REALLY high hopes for his pheno. The stems have the most powerful scent of the three, and it smells exactly like tangerine peels. No fruit punch, no spice, no pine... just straight tangerine peels. The internodal length is bigger but it looks more sativa dominant so that's actually a good thing for me. We'll see how the smoke ends up...

And here's the Tahoe OG:

That's all for now, I'll try to update about once a week or so. Estimating 70 days flower so should be another solid two months.

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome jd, love your vert work! I actually was debating vert for this room but ended up going for the bushes. Hope you enjoy!

And realistic, right on. There's nothing like spending time in the room and it kind of gives me an excuse to stick around a bit longer haha.

I'm running #3 at EC 1.8, #2 at 1.5, #1 at 1.6, and the unknown at 1.6... pH has been rock steady at 5.8 for the past 8 days. Using Rez's 6:9 Lucas formula, no additives yet.

Yesterday marked day 14 and stretch seems to be slowing, so I put on my sunglasses, armed myself with scissors and went to town on the girls.

Here they are just before:

SA #1 (odor of lemon pine-sol) and #2 (strawberries)

Unknown and SA #3 (tangerine pheno)

Here is after:

The tops all look so much more perky and vigorous after just a day. #2 is an early producer, buds are already swelling and early resin production is through the roof (sorry pics are from lights - on):

#3 isn't far behind, but the buds are notably more sativa-like. Also early resin. #1 is just now putting out little buds, no visible resin. Time will tell.

I also took about 45 of the healthiest looking branches and did my cloning ritual...

Next time around when the buds start fattening up I'll take some lights-out pictures

Day 30!!

before we go into detail here's a brief look at the leaves of the three phenos. I honestly haven't seen this much variation out of such a small sample before. Not necessarily a bad thing, each are beautiful in their own ways... #1 has beautiful ladyfinger leaves and tight compact structure, #2 smells like berries and is caked in resin with beautiful white pistils, #3 smells so strongly of tangerine peels... but makes me question what pheno they're referring to in their description...

An up close on #1:

#2:

#3:

#3 is the quickest to root, 100% were rooted within 10 days... #1 wasnt far behind and #2 is still in the dome (im guessing because its more indica dominant). Heres how vigorous a branch from #1 was yesterday:

Heres a wide of phenos #1 and #2, #2 is the chunkier one in back and #1 is the thinner smaller one up front:

heres a closer on #1, I love those sativa leaves...

#3 was getting so big that it was choking out the unknown afghan I had previously... given that I had no idea what variety it was and I wanted to give this one everything it needed to reach full potential I ripped out the unknown and am letting this gal stretch her legs. Right now she's about a meter by a meter square:

And here's a shot of the room with the Tahoe OG in the center (pics to follow)

here's the hempy Tahoe OG, looking chunky, pistil tips starting to turn red:

And in the meantime, here's my veg room.... I have Chem D, Blue Dream, LA Confidential and another Tahoe OG in the DWC, a XXX OG in Hempy, and some cuts of the strawberry amnesia in small hempys (after I find out which pheno I like most, I plan on reversing sex to pollinate so I have back-up seed stock just in case, as well as keeping a mother)

That's it for now, hope you've enjoyed! Happy Prez Day! :tiphat:
