Post Are we losing the war on drugs?

The Agenda programme, presented by David McWilliams, on TV3 this Sunday, February 8th, at Midday. Repeated at 12:10am.

Are we losing the war on drugs? Three years into the National Drugs Strategy, Irish people are taking more illegal drugs at a younger age than at any other time. According to a recent UN Report, Ireland has the highest levels of ecstasy, amphetamine and cannabis use in Western Europe. Following the legal downgrading of cannabis in the UK this week, is it now time to rethink our own Drugs policy? Far from winning the war, are the failings of the current approach to tackling the drug problem doing more harm than good? We’ll be asking the man who launched the strategy, Eoin Ryan TD, as well as Tony Geoghan, director of the Merchant's Quay Centre and Tim Murphy, lecturer in Law at UCC.
