I picked up some death star strain and saw seeds in it. I was happy because there were only a few and they all popped and i harvested them recently.

Heres the issues: the bud doesn't smell like the bud the seeds came from. They look similar to the strain as i remember it, but it doesn't smell like the death star.

is that possible? Can a strain smell totally different from seed to seed? I never heard of this.

The seeds are 100% from a death star strain, theres no mistake. death star from what i recall is a sour diesel and sensi star cross.

What the fuck is going on?

lots of variation if using seeds, which is why folks find a "keeper" & clone or "self" to get identical seeds.

Welcome to the game of seeds...

If the seeds came from Death Star you can assume they are Death Star x unknown male/herm. Who really knows where the pollen donor came from.

There are actually very few strains that are stable enough to throw the same basic plants from seed every time.

Thats why sour bubble from seed is gold!

Deathstar isn't stabilized, it is a clone only, meaning it is a selected plant from a family line, the very nature of clone only suggests a good chance of not breeding true for every trait.

Its like having that one freak kid in the family who is seven feet tall but everyone else is 5. lol

I have about 30 more seeds of this alleged death star....i can only hope at least one of the seeds renders the death star punch.

I should note some of the buds did indeed smell like they were supposed to...but i didnt label the dried buds which plant they came from so back to square one.

that's a fair amount of seeds to search for a similar pheno. selection and labeling are key!

I got some deathstar x sour bubble and indeed it is a head banger, like confusion, stupifying goodness lol,,,, smoked in the nmorning once and locked my fool self out ... lol

i'm only a semi-experienced breeder,

but my opinion is, if your plant doesn't smell like it's mother, don't give up

one of it's children may exhibit that trait again
