Hey buddy, sounds interesting. The Katsu Bubba cut has been around for awhile.........It was used in Cannbiogens peyote purple for example. Seems to turn purp pretty easy, lots of trichs and seems to have a better structure/yield than the 98 (don't hold me to that, Im sure someone with more experience will chime in).
Should be interesting crossed with Jack, looking forward to your pics bro........Really enjoyed the HP pics. Keep up the good work man Danny |

Katsu is I believe an S1 of the pre98 bubba. Better yielding and lots of people say better flavor, but taste is subjective. Plenty of people prefer mama as well. Coffee, mocha, kushy smelling. Heard lots of good things about Chimera's Jack crosses, I'm sure you're gonna be happy with them.

Hi knuckles,
I've not grown Katsu Bubba, however, I am a bit of a weed dork and have been reading the forums for years. The similarities between the Katsu and Press 98 have been noted by many that have grown both. I wouldn't expect one to be much better than the other for smoking, however, for breeding, the Katsu is likely to be superior, and pass on more Bubba traits to the offspring. This is due to being S1, which means it has been slightly inbred. If you check out the feminized seeds thread in this forum you'll see a quote from Chimera that kalbhairov added, in regards to the blueberry and f2's. I believe the same applies to the Bubba. Good luck, I'm aching to know how they'll turn out, since I ordered them, but called in to change it at the last minute. |

Hi knuckles,
Sounds like the shorties are the Bubba. They generally lag behind a bit in veg and have the larger leaves. As I mentioned, I've not grown Katsu, but I've grown the pre98 and a couple crosses. We have found that defoliating significantly increases yield on these type of strains. Basically I strip everything. These types have very leafy buds, and those tiny leaves add up big time, and are more than enough to fuel accelerated growth. If you don't strip them they will block light from your branches, and the branches will not stretch as much or fill in as dense. Also one more thing is your buds will be less leafy and have better appeal, and they will be easier to trim. They grow back fast, and I pick them off just as fast. I generally start at two weeks into veg, from clone. This has been proven in many gardens, and was brought to my attention by a student of mine several years ago. He said, "we're in the business of growing buds, not leaves, right?" If you do this, don't be discouraged when your plant looks half as big, it's still the same plant, but now the branches that produce the buds will basking in the sun, as opposed to hiding under the shade leaves. Good luck
