I thought I'd just add this to thread instead of starting another....ordered from Herbies recently and all the beans arrived to the east coast in 1 week.
Also, the first package of 5 all popped safely. +1

question about your orders
That's cool that you guys got your orders, always great to hear. I do wonder though...
I ordered before Christmas and got a confirmation email but that was it. How did that process work for you guys? I've read some reviews over at trollitup and some guys there are talking like they got a confirmation email and a dispatched email all in one day. Is that usually the case? |

Hey guys,
First post, but have been lurking the forums for several years. Wanted to learn more about herbies and have used clones for the last several years, but felt like it was time for something different. I took the plunge and ordered 4 packs of seeds from them with super stealth shipping in early December. Unfortunately, today, I just received the package with the green customs tape on it. I dont want to give too much away, but i was kind of taken back that it was not very stealthy at all as it was the same packaging as the description they use on their website for the regular stealth shipping. I live in the Midwest and my packages have always gone through chicago customs without a hitch. The last time I ordered seeds though was in 2009 with attitude with the t shirt in breeders packs and it made it fine. I guess my questions are: 1. Should I worry that customs got my gear? Has above had herbies super stealth seized lately? If so, did you receive them the second time? 2. Will herbies send them in a less conspicuous manner next time, if they will resend at all? 3. After reading up on seizures, why do the seed banks not adapt and evolve over time in their stealth shipping methods? 4. Are there any other banks that are truly stealth and legitimate, that anyone would recommend, other than herbies or attitude? Thank you in advance for any replies. If i have posted in the wrong section, I apologize. |

I can tell you this much, Attitude was probably getting snagged BECAUSE of stealth methods.
From observation, I gather that bulky packages (mug, t-shirt) raises red flags now. But in reference to seed banks adapting, there are only so many options available to them. Whether it's no "t-shirt" with breeder packs to t-shirts without breeder packs, it's absolutely inevitable some are going to be pulled. The ones that are pulled are the ones you mainly read about because 80% of the time nobody complains online or reports receiving their beans. While Attitude and some others have acknowledged a raise in seizures, the ratio of packs sold and received to those that are not is very high. When you think about it, these guys have literally 10's of thousands of customers with only few complaints relatively speaking. I can't comment on Herbies as I am new to them, but they have a great reputation. To conclude, Herbies could send them the exact same way next time and they go through. You were just unlucky because customs can't afford to pull everything that fits a suspicious profile because the entire mail system would shut down. If you were to get snagged again it would literally be a one in a million chance. I would not worry. |

Rubberband,
Thanks for the response. FWIW, After contacting Herbies I can have them resent or get a refund. If the resend doesn't come through they won't refund the money or resend again. I think I'm going to take the refund try someone else with guaranteed shipping so that I'm not out all of my money if they get taken twice. Just figured it would be worth noting that they will only resend once or give a refund for anyone that is considering purchasing anything. I'm not saying that in a bad way and am not sure if attitude or anyone else will resend an order until you receive it. If anyone does know and could shed some light on that, I would appreciate it. Herbies, does have great customer service though and are easy to deal with. |
