You could definatly do a micro grow in that space, especially a scrog grow. I think that with that many lights, it would get pretty hot in that space, just start out with maby 8-10 of thoes lighs, and monitor the temps. You can work up from there. Thats a great idea having a grow in your comp desk, very cool..

Thats pretty much a 2.5 feet high by 1.5 feet wide by 1 foot deep. So you have 3.75 feet cubed approximatley. I don't know if you will be able to fit all 20 of those lights in there. But if you can without heat issues go for it...

I wouldnt use 13 watt cfls to grow with. Just use them in your home. replace all your lights and those 20 cfls will last you for years. its a good way to save a few bucks on the electricity bill. If you really wanted to use them to grow with , 8 would work well. thats 104 watts of furo which is just under 70 watts per square foot - a good amount of light.
Why not use a small HPS lamp for flower instead though. You can use the fluros for veg. Are the CFLs you got cool white or warm white? PS I like what youve done with that cab. Might make a really good veg and/or mother room.

would a 70 watt hps and a couple 20 watt CFLs be sufficient to flower some plants(1 or 2) in this?

I’ve just started growing in a spare wardrobe and was concerned about heat issues, and the fact that I might have t go away for maybe up to a week, I didn’t want to be worrying about anything catching fire .I looked up the forums about lights and came across theses Envirolites, they are low energy (cheap to run)bulbs made specially for indoor growing. They are not too expensive and they come in blue (for veg) and red (for flowering). They come in 2 sizes 125w and 200w.im putting a link below where I found after extensive searching. I have a 125w & a 200w blue waiting on red ones still but Im in no hurry just yet. Have a look at my set up it might give you some ideas, but anyway I’ve read some good things about the Enviro’s (also another 1 is Eco light same lights just different manufactures).
Good luck starting off anyway. https://www.theonlineelectricalwholes...ath=88_254_256 https://www.envirolites.co.uk/ ]COBO'S First GROW !!!!!![/b] . |

Whoa!!!! Cobo those lights are bad ass, i've never seen them before, I bet those would do really really well at a whopping 200 watts and the price isnt bad AT ALL!!
But i would say try not to go under 60 watts of floro, Yes 60 watts isnt much at all, but you can veg and flower with 60 watts, your results are going to be very low but i never ever go under 60 watts. I usually start them off with about 45 watts for vegging and for flowering i dont even fuck with floros strictly HPS. But i have done many many all floro grows. Basically the key is lots and lots of light, REMEMBER the lower ammount of wattage the lower ammount of bud you will get. I would say buy one of those lights posted above me, Or even get a cheap 70 watt HPS you can get a bulb on the internet for like 10$ and alot of them now screw in to regular bases. |

I dont know how much the adapter plugs are for you to screw them into a regular bulb base, but yeah...use those for your home.
They are not practical for growing a plant (unless its a bunch of clones or seedlings) because you'll have to keep re-arranging them and moving them around so the plant is sufficiently covered. Plus the light penetration would just be sooo weak. Plus 10 of those 13 watters will mean lots of heat buildup. You would probably have the same amount of heat if you just got a 150 HPS because HPS doesn't get as hot as the CFLs (compared watt to watt). Get a 70w hps. Use a couple CFLS maybe to suppliment light on the sides. |
