Lightbulb anyone tried gel 2 root cutting media

Anyone tried the gel 2 root stuff as a rooting media seems so simple and easy

Here's a link

https://www.nugel.co.uk/gel2root-rooting-gel#g_1_0

You can buy it in 1 litre bottles and they can be kept in the pots for quite a while too

I'm not so sure on it s capability for rooting cannabis though anyone tried it ?

never seen that product before, but i first thought it was gonna be Gel4Plugs.

wonder how much they sell it for?

wonder how many cuts you could make from a 1 litre bottle vs a small pot of clonex?

im sure if it works on cannabis it will have a use somewhere ie maybe better to use this product when sending cuts over long distances.

i also wonder how long it will stay as a gel like substance as a long time ago i used a product called Gel4Roots when my local shop shop was out of clonex and got to say wasnt impressed as i lost a whole batch of cuttings and thats the only time i've had a complete failure when it comes to cuttings but also got to say i used a different media from my favoured rw or jiffy plugs.

basicly the gel in the fleximix cube turned into what i can only describe as dried up hair gel.

peace.

You can't really compare it to clonex as its the material you clone in so you would replace your root it cube and cloning gel
for example pour 40ml into a yougurt pot pop a few clones in job done there's rooting hormone and nutrients in the gel

Cost for 1 litre is about £11

It states it's not good for acid loving plants. When I clone in rw I use ph of 5.5 - 5.8 which is pretty acidic.

I suppose its worth a try.

i guess your right cant compare Gel4Plugs and this nu gel or whatever its called.

£11 quid seems like a good price but at 40ml per cut thats only 25 cuts.

if it did work with canna and if i had this product when i first started out all those years ago i would of given it a whirl because taking cuttings for some reason had me nervous lol.

This looks interesting!

I wonder how the roots are getting oxygen within the gel? I also thought roots plus light = bad, so you'd have to cover the root zone I suppose. And it does sound expensive compared to other methods.

I wonder what it's actually made of, it doesn't really say much other than it contains indole-3-butyric acid which is in most rooting hormone powder. Who's gonna try it then?

Peace

back in the day i saw a thread where the guy was taking cuttings and rooting them in glass tumblers(house plant style) with no rooting hormone or no airstone, just straight water.

not sure if the thread was on ic or could even been back in the days of overgrow but op showed in his thread that it was possible to root canna cuttings using this method but also noted that it takes longer to root than say if you were using rockwool method.

regarding roots getting oxygen in the gel i would of thought the gel is mostly water base and that where the oxygen comes from.

even seen a guy over here on the ic years ago doing dwc style grow with them storage containers with the clear bases and i asked him if he kept them covered from the light and he said no. also showed plenty of pictures of his white root system and told me proof was in the pudding lol.

peace
