I have been making candies for a number of years. This is a recipe I have needed too. I have the same problem with the sugar melting the gelatin. I thought it was maybe the Jello so I tried Knox. That melted too, I did try the superfine, no better. Powdered sugar stays slimy.
Never used agar agar so am going to listen for how you do Chonski. I keep meaning to try as our coop is carrying it now. I do make "applets", "cotlets" & gum drops from my apples, apricots, grape juice and blackberries I pick. It really is different and much better. |

Not adding lecithin seems to make them feel less potent, and I've had a number of reliable "test subjects" >:-) It also helps bioavailablity as you can begin to feel something about 30 mins after eating one, but without lecithin that same feeling took 45-60 mins to kick-in. I just grabbed my molds from Bulk Barn, a good coating of cooking spray makes the candies slide right out, you just need a little thing to pry them out with but it isn't hard at all. Thanks for the info on the decarbing, I'll take that into consideration from now on. The guy who showed me how to make these is doing the math wrong and his recipe sucks, so he claims his to be 100mg which I KNOW they aren't because mine blow people away.... so if these aren't 114mg, then I can't imagine how low the doses are in his candies lmao. I think I solved the melting sugar problem. When you pop them out of the molds put them into a large bowl of sugar and let them sit in there, in the fridge, for a good couple of hours. Remove them and bang off the excess suagr then let them sit in the fridge again for another few hours. This seems to cure the sugar to the candies, and the mold release will bind the sugar to the gelatin/candy. Personally though I don't use sugar as these have enough flavor without that extra, sticky coating. If these get more popular around here I definitely want to try using glucose or something other than gelatin to make candies like the ones you buy in stores. I also want to try using real fruit juices if I can find them in the flavors I'm making. I'd imagine that grape gummies made with welch's grape juice would be outstanding. |

I've seen that, it might work well enough if you're only making small personal amounts from time to time, but it's probably much easier to just make it in a pot and separate molds like I do. it's really not that complicated once you make a few batches and work out your process. |

Cool recipe, buddy.. So, each jelly would feel like consuming about a half of a gram of high grade cannabis flowers? 10 of those jellies might put a person on a guided tour of the Yellow Brick Road, fun!.. Are they very bitter?

They aren't too bitter but it really depends on the oil itself. You can definitely taste it and it does leave a bit lingering aftertaste. |
