My girlfriend had never before used weed in any way. She has now tried maybe 5-8 times, vaporizing and eating too, the strain has been Purple Ryder aka purple jems. For me this strain works very well, one of the nicest strains I know, but she said that she cannot feel anything special, only a little bit drunken feeling without any positive effects.

What can be the reason behind this? Is it possible that cannabis just doesn't work for her?? or is it possible that the strain is wrong for her? The fact that she feels something, though it's a negative feeling which she doesn't like tells me that she knows how to inhale from the vaporizer and she has tried eating as well. But just doesn't feel anything like I feel, which is happiness, connection, lifted mood, many new good ideas and solutions, no worries, letting go of any anger or problems in my mind and just enjoying the time together, sleeping well, eating well..

So any ideas why it is so, she said she would love to enjoy the herb if it just would work for her but she just feels strange in her head and "like drunk but nothing else".

In my experience women seem to need 1.5 to twice the dosage as men to get ripped. Also my wife smokes a real nice sativa and nothing, which can be good cause im so ripped im hiding in the trunk, she can drive lol.

I don't know anything about the strain you have but i would recommed something indica like herijuana, sour bubble, etc.

Also has she tried a good bong rip? Vaping makes me wanna smoke and edibles are different for everyone. So maybe some old fashioned clouds of smoke will do the trick.

I'm not familiar with your strain, but I'm guessing it's lowryder related? And isn't lowryder a ruderalis hybrid?

Regardless of the strain... it's entirely possible she's one of those weird people who don't care for the feeling caused by cannabis. At least in the past my father has reported feeling essentially nothing when he smokes (with his girlfriend who does enjoy). People's chemistry is different - my old lady just falls asleep.

Still... it's probably worth a try with another strain - maybe some kind of heavy indica? Or who knows, maybe a sativa would be more to her liking?

Our brother swore up and down that marijuana had no effect on him... the first time he tried it, he was in amsterdam just after getting out of the military. He said he went from coffeeshop to coffeeshop and ordered the most potent available flowers, and felt nothing.

We called bs and rolled a joint of warlock (circa 2002), and proceeded to burn with him... two hits later and his eyes were bright red, and he could barely open them.... he was giggling for hours...

we think his only problem was not being able to admit to himself that it did indeed work and that he liked it lol

I'd suggest something from the newish polyhybrid strains for your girlfriend. For example, Girl Scout Cookies.
Depending where you live it is becoming widely available at dispensaries.
The seeds are also obtainable from seed banks online.
I agree with the comment above pointing out the possibility you have been smoking a ruderalis mix strain from the description provided.
A major complaint surrounding many ruderalis crosses is a mediocre potency combined with a peculiar "buzzy" feeling. I have experienced this myself and know the sensations.
All I can add is the ancient adage, " If at first you don't succeed, try,try again!"..
Keep going you two, just relax and enjoy the strain tests...

Not all strains are the same. Some plants have strong potency others are duds.

About one thirds of seeds grown produced plants with no potency.

When I visited California me and my buddy went to five different dispensary In the Bay area and got exactly ten strains. Only two out of the ten strains had decent potency. All others had weak to no potency. A complete waste of money and time. I will never go back to some of the "Med" Dispensary there, so fraudulent.

Fortunately I met a grower there with a passion for the grow. His strains were selected from many plants to find keepers. All his strains were very potent with excellent taste and aroma. Having his buds made my trip to Cali worthwhile.

Proper strain selection is so important in the Canna business.

A couple things first... Vaping & edibles seem to have more subtle effects than smoking, ime.
And
Ryder crosses make nice all day smoke due to slightly less potency. Hower, I doubt potency is the issue in either case.

Could it be possible that your gf is having issues due to some psychological block in her mind? Maybe due to the past stigma this plannt has endured under. Maybe she can't relax & allow herself to feel it. And maybe the terpin profile just isn't synergistic with her body chemistry. It's all really up in the air as to why your gf is having issues feeling the weed.


If you have access to a dispensary (CO, WA) get a frw grams of some various buds & try those out. If not try growing out some strains crossed from DJ Shorts lines. It seems the chicks love DJs work.
Also,
Try to get something along the lines of what she likes flavor wise. What's very difficult is finding buds where the aromas match the flavors. This may also be causing a blok, now that I think about, due to high expectations for the buds.

When I first smoked cannabis many moons ago lol.. It didn't seem to work on me as well so I think cannabis needs to build up in your system a bit. Yes the strain plays a very big roll . It's not for everyone but let her decide. Headband 707
