The other day i noticed a couple balls on my C99 #1 so i picked them off.Today all 4 C99's have balls,i mean alot of ball's and im really worried.Im at day 31 of 12/12 and i picked what seems like the whole plant. My 3 BBxWW right next to it at the same age have no balls at all.I know its not my room or stress, anyone else had hermies with the C99?Ive seen a bunch of grows everywhere that were perfect with no balls at all and ive grown other FMS Strains that were awsome that i love and stil have mothers of .So im totally bummed, this was my first time growin C99 and have never smoked it,i heard so many good things, thats what makes it hurt the most(Its GN's favorite so it must be pretty damn good right?,lol).Should i chuck the plants? They look all bare and ugly duckling now that i cleaned them up.I will just make oil ,would that be worth it? ,they stil do look frosty in spots.Peace and stay safe,DancesWithWeed

Sorry to hear this bro, but well, this is what happens when man tries to fuck with nature, these fancy female seeds are still called "very much hermaphroditic almost female seeds" in my books...
I'll send you something good to grow asap...

If you've other females uneffected....remove them ASAP!!! When you think you got ALL the males....surprise, surprise, surprise....mutha f*cker you're in for one seedy harvest. Then you must clean the room to remove any lingering pollen.
My situation....a SC99 got stressed and developed male flowers...thought I got them all...didn't. Thus my harvest got pollenated, still a great smokin 'erb, just seedy. OK, the plus, IMO, is that the seeds will likely be feminized(sp?) seeds. I read this somewhere, also. Soma had an article on it. The difference between stressed females w/a few male flowers is quite different than hermie where the males are growing quite noticably w/the pistils. Some folks bulk at keeping seeds from plants pollenated by a hermie. But if the funds and means to purchase seeds/clones are unavailable...sh*t...grow on. Better to have this weed than no weed. IMO. Anyway, I wish you success w/ya grow. Stay safe. Eco Watch em grow!!!

gmt...i believe he posted that they were FMS. It aint just you DWW...I found em too :( I have to agree with framer John, it just aint natural. Female seeds = hermaphrodites, thats the idea behind it all. An xx chromasome can only be made by a hermed plant...right? please correct me if I am wrong.

Thats pretty much how it goes kokua my friend, many people claim that if you use the pollen from hermie (plants reverted using stress/chemicals/whatever people use to turn plants hermie lol) plants on all clean females then the seeds should all resemble the "mother" plant and be 100% or 99.999999999% females like people who do this claim...bullshit imo, of course there'll be plenty of clean females but the % of hermies/males is way more than 0.1% or so, more like 33.333% females, 33.3333% males and 33.33333% hermies or just all hermies or mutants or freaks or such, I think of hermaphroditism as a safety trick that the plants use if for example all other females and males die for some reason, outdoors, in a field, then turning hermie is the only way, a genetic way, for the plant to make seeds and so live on..just my 2c.

I wanted to also say that my comments were not inflamitory in nature. They are just my observations and opinions. And when I said Female seeds = hermaphrodites I meant it as a general across the board statement (female, feminized whats the difference), I wasn't saying FMS = hermies.
There are definately situations in which a female seed would be preferred, but not in my case. lol They do have a place in the market for sure. |
