If you didn't see tonight's episode of SBS' Insight - it was definitely worth a watch.

Some polarised opinions on the matter of Medical Cannabis as was to be expected but I felt it didn't succumb to too much conservative paranoia/propaganda (apart from a bit of 'shut-up-and-sit-down' dirty-laundry being hung out to dry by Jenny at one point...)

As a proponent and supporter of legalisation and regulation of cannabis I found myself getting annoyed at just how slow progress is here in Australia - primarily due to the fact that cannabis in any shape or form is still illegal. Kind of makes it conveniently hard to research away the 'not enough research into possible long term harm' protests doesn't it?

The desperation and frustration of parents and would-be consumers of medical cannabis was obvious. It was like they just wanted to slap a few people in positions of authority and say 'wake the fuck up and get this stuff moving so that we are not in danger of getting arrested or having DOCs intervene if we want to improve/save our family/friend's/kid's lives by give them cannabis!'

Was good to see Tony Bower from Mullaways in there fighting the good fight. Much respect sir and kia kaha...

The one time I got really angry was at that knob-jockey Shane Varcoe on the video-conference call from Melbourne.
Poor fuckwit got me immediately riled once I recognised his weak jawline from Episode 5 of "Living With the Enemy" (screened on SBS October 2nd) wherein he declared that cannabis prohibition efforts must be strengthened in Australia and cannabis users must either just say no (via rehab) or go to prison.

Well without any word of a lie, he can go and suck a scabby cock. Sorry but it's true. He can. I would have no qualms telling him so to his arrogant fart-sniffing face either (if I could look at him without throwing up in my mouth that is).

I guess any show like this needs to represent the opinions of those (like my parents) still lost in the shadowy past of misinformation and fear that has been the mainstay of the conservative masses for so long. They must be feeling like the gates of hell are opening and so are desperately trying to wedge them shut with buttered crumpets. Get a real job will ya?

Oh by the way, the poll at the end of the show was 87% for legalisation and 13% against. A sure sign of common sense prevailing over ignorance (albeit behind the veil of anonymity...)

good old me, I missed it, did not know it was on but going by most of the oz shit I hear not worth watching, have heard some good on radio shows though with parents telling how there children need it =AND FUK'N HURRY UP LIKE. SLOW WALKING DOPES.

The naysayers where thick an heavy and at one point I almost threw my glass of rum and dry at the big screen TV but the missus pulled me up just in time
Overall though I think the positive aspects were given a chance to be shown (to a degree) and if nothing happens at least people are really starting to talk about it, which was better than before where nothing was being said

i liked the poll at the end 87% were in favour of MMJ...i have been using MMJ for the last 28 years regardless of the laws and will continue to do so...but fuck it would be nice to have a set up like those in the US without the worry or stress that comes from big grows down under..
