Im considering moving to afar off land ! in an apartment ..

By renting a house.

change the lock on the bedroom but not thr front door. make sure to light and sound proof perfectly. avoid foot traffic and loud volume. maintain low profile. pay rent on time, always. try to rent from a larger management company rather than an individual landlord, unless said landlord is out of town; smaller outfits tend to be nosier.

other than that just heavy emphasis on stay low profile. dont be blatant about your smoking, if you choose to smoke at the location.

How is 2k in an apartment risky?

what if you have a 2 bedroom apartment with multiple 20 amp circuits...

so even if i lived there but had 40 free amps (4200watts) just for the grow, but only used 2500w, that wouldnt be a safty hazard as long as i only load each breaker to only 70% of its capacity right?

why do people always think 1k is so many watts...i think because they just think of a huge bright light and heat or something..or maybe how much bud it will produce and its hard for them to imagine growing that much, or they think of trouble (law) ??

but most portable heaters are around 1200-1800 watts, and there are lots of other thing that are high watt and add up real fast...if you looked around your place right now and add up each light bulb and everything, yeah everything is not always on i know...but the flower room is where most the light is and thats only 12/12 half the day

as long as you can control odor,noise,light leaks and make sure you know what lights are on what breakers and what not and have outlets labled incase your not suppose to have 2 things on at a particular time on that particular outlet.

affter you first have the room running, keep checking (feeling) the power strip, timer the light is plugged into for heat build up or burning smell to make sure the timer is appropriate for the wattage you have it hooked up to.

Your power useage is nothing 2200watts is the least of your concerns, its everything else,
steath is the factor,no traffic no one sees your grow (NO ONE) no bright lights, no smell, no hippy freak weirdos up all night.
Nobody gives a crap about your hydro bill until something else happens, get it. Then when the MAN gets probable cause he pulls your hydro record and its another nail in your coffin but not until you fuck up elsewhere.

2k is possible in an apartment, but it's VERY risky. for a very small number of growers, it's not so risky, because they are smart enough to do what is recquired to pull it off safely. this number is very, very small!

electrically speaking, it's no big deal. 2k watts isn't even noticable on a power bill. what is noticable is packing in large bags of soil, perlite, manures, worm castings, buckets, fixtures etc if doing soil. if doing hydro, water pumps, air pumps, carbon scrubbers and falling water can all add up to a nice little symphonic hum that depending on your situation could go right through the wall/roof/floor to the tenant above/below/beside you.

it all comes down to some basic questions.

can you vent/exhaust and if necessary use an air conditioner without it looking suspicious. will their noise be a problem?

can you afford the gear necessary to make it an odor free grow? carbon scrubbers, ozone etc. these all add noise.

are you.... capable.... of building a sealed room in order for it to be odor free?

will the grow have to share a wall/ceiling/floor with a neighbor? critical question.

what style of setup are you thinking about? what do you estimate the total noise pollution from the room is? some soil rooms are whisper quiet. some hydro rooms sound like an industrial plant. can you guess which would work in an apartment better than the other? lol.

are you capable of having NO ONE, and i mean NO ONE, coming over to your apartment? my philosophy as a grower is that the second someone walks into that house, you've failed. growing big (2k isn't really big) is all about security. spare me and yourself the protestations that "this person is solid". i bet 90% of those who told narcs thought they were solid to. if you tell them, they'll tell someone. they'll think they're being clever and say "yeah i know this grower...." and expound upon your setup and how cool it is, thinking the other person is an idiot and wont figure out who you are. the traffic at your apartment, your garbage, and the odor of the grow are/should be your biggest concerns if you're going to try it. it can be done, but must be done very carefully. follow the NEED TO KNOW rule and you'll be fine. no matter how proud you are of it, if they dont NEED TO KNOW, no matter how long you've known them, no matter how solid you THINK they are, YOU are creating an unecessary risk.
