What is the minimum and maximum watt per square foot?

Is there an optimum watt per square foot?

Say a 4x4 or 16 square feet. What ya shootin for? 50, 75, 100

the consensus is 50w per sq foot
but you can over kill with lighting though I'm not sure at what level this would start

currently I run between 75w - 110w per sq ft

I have 2 x 600w lamps and a 1000w in a 20sq ft room
though its very rare I run them all together
normally the 2 x 600 of 1 x 600 and the 1000

though 2200w into 20 sq ft is more than likely getting to the overkill stage
