I got I think it was a 4 pack of fem c=99 female seeds from sd. I had the problem of the strain starting to flower after week 4-5 veg? If I keep them under 24 light they stay vegging.I got a pretty big one outside and its fully in bud? Could this be from making the strain feminized?

Hey CE,
Thanks for popping in! You mean the plant started flowering by itself indoor or outdoor? 24 lights is not really suggested for the C99 because it can stress the plant, this may be the reason of the sudden flowering. And about the feminized question...well I believe this is not the case, at least with Female Seeds strains the process does not influence veg phase. All the best, Mr B. Quote:

Ok, could you please make it a bit more clear to me? If you could explain how did the grow develop and more on I will try to reply asap.
You started indoor? You brought them outside later? Most probably the 24 hours of light stressed the plant and when you did the switch to 18/6 the plant may did not react in the proper way. Let me know about the grow process when you can 'cause I really want to help you out. But if not, you can also send an email to my colleagues at info@femaleseeds.nl, if you find it easier to communicate of course. All the best, Mr B. Quote:

Mmm, interesting though. I understand the situation and I do agree with you that is quite an exception, strange behaviour of the plant. I believe that bring her back to 24 hours did not help her at all since the plant itself already realised that is time to flower.
What about this plant? Apart from this unexpected flowering is it showing different traits from the other c99 you had? Are there remarkable differences when compared to the other you had? Looking forward to hearing from you, Cheers, Mr B. Quote:

HI
I remember back in days, C99, its quite sensitive plant, how I can describe....very easy to stress her...I had 4-5 phenos, and when I changed light cycle from 21/3 to 18/7 and there was same thing....but also lots of seeds...I tooked clones for them and everything went then as should....and I have also C99 beans, next run will rock with them..I think some phenos is harder and some easier to stress....and grow. Thats only my experience...still love that strain and what comes to light cycle indoors, 18/6 is best, saves electricity and doesnt have so much difference to 21/3. 24 hours light is also stressing, the plant must have dark period....maybe I am wrong, but have tried all cycles of those many times....can depend also what strain is.... All are my opinions, or experiences, i am not professional or advicing anyone, so I wish you all the best. |

Hey StillAlive,
You are absolutely right about the phenos. There are indeed some really strong pheno that you can stress a lot or do anything with the plant but she will keep behaving normally. But is also true that there are sometimes some weaker and more sensitive pheno...those are the phenos you really have to take care of, they need much more love than the stronger phenos. This last summer I grew some C99 outdoor, in The Netherlands and besides a lot of wind, rain, storms almost no light or sun, plants did not stress at all and actually they got really strong. It took quite some patience to cover them or protect them...roots were totally ripped off by the wind at least a couple of times but in the end it all worked well. ![]() Anyhow, thanks for popping in the conversation and for your feedback. Is always a pleasure to see that there are so many C99 fans around here! Take care, Mr B. Quote:

I ran a few of your C99 beans a couple years ago with some pretty good results. The first bean I popped sprouted and grew normal for about 4 days, then keeled over and died. Popped another one and got twins. One was a normal healthy plant that grew into a nice grapefruit leaning pheno and was a good representation cindy.
The second twin was a runt that I almost threw away. Decided to keep it and it grew into the absolute best tasting weed I've ever smoked in my life. It was a runt throughout its life and the yield wasn't good at all, but damn it was so freaking tasty! The smoke was like a super smooth fine cherry tobacco taste that I've never seen in any other strain before. Of course I never took a cutting.... Currently I have an FMS C99 at about 21 days of 12/12 which was started from the same 10 pack I bought 3 years ago and stored in my fridge. Seed cracked and poked it's tail out within 24 hours so I can't bitch about that. She's looking extremely sativa leaning right now, long skinny leaves, stretchy, but not a lot of trichs or smell yet. |
