the best way to dry
Can you guys tell me whats the best way too dry mj. i allways sun dry then cure as normal. I think the sun drying is the same thing as the drying in paper bags. I dont think that 2 days of sun could be worst that 2 weeks in a papper bag.
but what do you guys thing? |

I remember an article in a magazine recently talking about the hash plantations in morroco. And they did mention that sun drying does decrease potency and taste. That is just what i read though.

There are many variations in the technique ,but how I do it is:
I clip the branches off the main stalk. I use boxes with strings inside of them to hang the buds ,I let them dry untill the stems snap clean , this is important, if the buds are too wet , they'll mold when put into the jars. Once the stems snap clean which is usually in about 8 days or so ,I jar em' up and start the cure. Finding a dark ,cool place is important ,( basements are a great place, providing you have one.) I too have read that heat and light are not good for dring buds. Also ,like I said don't jar them too early ,it's always better to be a little drier than wet. Hope this helps and good luck. |

cool dark place for a good slow dry. keep in mind to watch for mold. by keeping the air DRY you better your chances at beating mold...
Yes the sun or any light is terrible for the prized THC but experiment to your taste and what your willing to lose. be KIND!!!

The sun is bad for the thc....true. But it is also the fact that you are drying your bud in 48 hours!!
That's fast...too fast imo. I think that if you ask around, you will find that the slower the dry process, the better the smoke. There is some science behind the theory, but I am way too stoned to even begin to articulate why......maybe someone can help us out with that. I try to slow my drying process as much as I can. I liken it to good bbq, the slower the process the better the product...happy 4th everyone!!
