A few people have pm'd me saying they didnt get all the seeds to pop so I thought I would share my basic germination process bc I have never had one of my seeds not pop.. honestly..
Put seeds in shotglass of water.. tap them every 6hrs or so until they all sink and stay at bottom.. once they are all at the bottom put in a papertowel and pour the shotglass water onto the paper towel, soaking it really nicely. fold the wet papertowel where the seeds are in the middle and put this into a ziplock bag.. i leave the ziplock open and put in a very dark, cool area.. I always get 100% on my own beans.

Since you're sharing: what "exactly" do you do with them once they look like that? I know it's a newbie topic, butty I have the worst luck with getting them to sprout. I can get them to crack with little white tails with no problem. But then I poke a hole in my soil/soiless mix, and gently cover them up. Moisten, and cover with plastic wrap.
This method gives me terrible results? I've tried "seed starting mix", and just vermiculite/perlite. Any ideas? I'm scared to even try any more of my relentless seeds after wasting a few :( -gil |

I had 1 of 4 frosty headband make it out of the soil. They all cracked just fine, they just didn't sprout from the soil. In no way do I think it was because of the seeds. I've had the same problem with other seeds, so I'm fairly certain it's something I'm doing wrong.
Sorry to derail the thread...but you started it! -gil |

I personally popped 18 big easy og(818 sfv x white) and 10 elmers(gg4 x white) and got 100%..
Gil-I personally will not put a seed that has just sprouted into soil.. I want it to have a nice taproot of at least 1/4-1/2".. I go about a half inch down into the soil with a pencil and put the seed barely under the soil.. from here on out its playing that balancing act of just enough water to where it doesnt dry out too much but not too much to kill the seedling.. for me a spray bottle is crucial.. i use a spray bottle to water seedlings until they can definitely support a good bit of water.. ive killed many seedlings in the past by planting a seed that had barely sprouted or by overwatering.. hope that helps gill

I put the seed barely under any soil but the tap root a good bit down.. if other seeds pop up out of the soil and 1 doesnt ill lightly dig with a pencil orr screwdriver..
but for me its really all in the spray bottle for the first week or so..

Thanks for the tips. I probably don't let the tap get long enough. What exactly is your "soil"? For seedlings?
