I know it sounds silly but REMOVING THC and leaving cbd
Is there any way to remove THC leaving CBD behind in an extract...
Perhaps use their different boiling points against them... Basically can one take a high cbd/low thc extract and remove EVEN more of the THC.. |

on that one weed show that one guy separated cbd from a solution....nate was his name..so someone is doing it... he made it look easy but I am sure it wasn't...he was making a cbd extract for a child and didn't want it to contain thc.....where are ya nate ??????

You're better off starting with low THC/high CBD material. There are really only two ways you could go about it: fractional distillation, and POSSIBLY some form of chromatography.

Isn't there CBD in male plants, but not thc? Couldn't you just extract from male plants?

Hemp is! I do know a man that made some of his oil with hemp and had it tested. However, there is no documentation or evidence that is conclusive that we 'don't' need some of the thc. IMHO, I believe a little thc is important.
However, the best source on this subject is Graywolf; he'll probably be along. If not, contact him, here at IC or at a google..Skunk Pharma in Oregon. CBD is just little bit more polar than THC due to the extra hydroxyl group down at the [5?] position.........I imagine that a lot of people who recrystallize CBD are washing/precipitating with nonpolar solvents and if done right, probably happen to wash away the minimal THC in the process.
You could also run proper column chromatography, again taking advantage of polarities. Start with a highly nonpolar mobile phase and a polar stationary phase, elute THC first, CBD afterwards....may need to increase polarity of solvent stream during the run to help elute more polar compounds (to whatever extent desired) |
