I recently moved into a brand new apartment with my girlfriend of almost 2 years. I have closets galore and specifically, one closet that it about 10 x 6 with a 9 foot ceiling. As soon as I saw it I could only think about popping two 600w lights in there with some bubbling buckets.

However, my girlfriend doesn't want the ganj growing going on. I did it at my old place and she was aware of it. I did it at remote locations and she was aware (although she didnt know the location). Now that my apartment isnt 100% under my control, I am having trouble.

Has any ICers with a spouse of girlfriend run into the issue of your partner having concerns about our hobby? How did you address said concerns. Any advice would be helpful.

P.S. I don't want to hear any flames about letting the woman know I grow. She is a fixed part of my life and as such, she needs to know. With that said, I await responses.

Personally I would never grow in an apartment too risky.

I think that is where she is having problems with. And rightfully so. My rule of thumb is if you DO NOT have totall control over you area you intent to grow, either abstain from growing or go to a remote area, that you will have totall control of.

Not much help I know, but thats where she is coming from.

Apartment grows are risky at best... it's great you are open with each other... ask her for her suggestions. Perhaps scale back and do a small cabinet grow to keep you in stash.

^ ya what he said, scale back and start back slowly, warming her up to the idea, instead of scaring her with something bigger. i have to fight for closet space

might have to find a person you are truely compatible with or it doesnt sound like youll be growing weed much in this lifetime. Next thing you know she will start telling you how you shouldnt smoke it either .... sounds like some tough choices ahead. My advice is to do your own thing and let her decide if she wants on the bus or not.

Nah. She smokes almost as much as I do. I would love to just "do my own thing", but the aprtment is every bit as much hers as it is mine.

As far as apartments being too risky, my landlord leaves us alone and doesn't take any interest in what we do as long as the rent is paid, and there is zero maintainence issues as the unit is only 8 months old. My woman says that when we have a house, she will feel better about it.

The annoying thing is that she still wants weed to smoke, then gets upset when I bring up starting up a new grow (all my current stuff comes from a very small grow at another location). I guess what I want out of this thread is some talking points that I can use to help convince her and/or alleviate her fears.

Current fears: 1)Random maintainence "emergency"
understandable, other than having a lock on the closet door I don't know what else to say about this one
2)She just graduated from law school and is worried that a mj conviction will hurt her when she tries to get accepted to the bar. I said I would lock the door to the closet and she would have no access. Therefore, if it went to court, technically, she would not be in possession of my plants, and she would have plausible deniability
3)She is not convinced that a first time plant conviction would generally lead to probation/minimal jail time with the proper attorney

I'm sure some of you out there have spouses who were not necessarily down with the herb growing. How did you convince them it was worth the risk?

I'm looking to go nuts here. Just 2x 600w hps and 8-10 bubbling buckets with a small mother/clone setup on a shelf.

That should provide an endless amount of herb for two people to smoke plus enough to share with friends.

if she tokes as much as you, id say, scrape the grow, buy some shit ass reg....
Tell her is she wants to toke the premium she will have to let you grow....
