Revised Vertical Areo

Got the changes done from my first grow with this unit. I changed the sprayers for Misters 1 GPH, and relocated, now i have 1 mister for every plant instead of 1 sprayer for every 2 plants.
The Eco Plus 230 pump may have a high GPH but the preasure sucks, 30PSI was the best i could get from this power guzzler so I put in a Aquetec high output pump, its like 1.3 GPM which by its self wouldn't keep up with 96 misters so i added a 20 gal. bladder tank, This worked out pretty well , so now instead of running a 9amp+ every 5 min cycle , I run approx. 1 amp every 4th cycle. with this setup I can maintain 60PSI on the high side and 40 PSI on the low side of the cycles. I was pushing out 80 PSI but I had a problem with line leaks so I reduced my preasure and now all is well.
These plants have been in the system now bout 5 days, the roots went from just a few sticking out of the rw cube to busting out all over. Some of the plants looked to be little over watered so I went from a 1min. on 5 min. off to 20 sec. on and 9 min. off. I keep an eye on these and see how it goes, Im sure as the plants get bigger I'll have to go back to 1 min on and 5 min off.

Better boy...You are my hero! Fantastic design, I wish we saw more true aero setups using diaphram pumps. Where were those leaks? I might be able to recommend a good tube/fitting system. The only thig that I don't like about aero in tubes is the limited root area. You end up with a well oxygenated NFT once the roots hit bottom, but that's not bad either.

What strain? Are you going for a GPW record?

most of the leaks were in the take off from the 3/4" feed pvc pipe but even at the misters will give me a problem. Im using .170 inside dia. tubing. gonna change the 3/4" pvc to 1/2" tubing and use punch take offs next round.
My first round I got over 3.5 LBS. but was super dry when done , this time im going for 5 lbs. I dont really think it will be a problem.
I have HDF/ Hog/ and MTT in this run, all heavy hitters

Sick system. Aren't the diaphram pumps a little loud? I had one and i think it was a shurflo. It made great pressure but the sound of the diaphrams also resonnated through my water lines and was quite loud.

I have a surflo for a back up but im using a aqutec running this system and is really quiet. I havent even fired up the surflo yet, I've had for bout a year now. I can get some pretty good prices on shurflo but maybe i better fire it up, maybe I'll wanna stick with the aquatec

looks awesome, are you running the full system now. I remember your last grow you weren't like 96 out 120 don't remeber exact numbers. Well good luck with the adjustments. It sure seems like an effeicent way to grow with light and space. :joint: later

yea, because of head room im ownly using 6 of the octogons instead of the 8 that was built for it. This will tell me if the changes i've made paid off or not since I ownly used 6 on my first grow. Seems like the ideas never stop so before the next grow with this unit I've got some more changes in mind, however they are minor changes.
I really cant think of any other system thats as efficient and low cost to build and run of this type. cheap running pump and using 360 degrees of the lighting.

Isn't that the truth... If it's finished and does not need any more changes you start up a completely new one...lol.

This run should rock with the bugs worked out... good luck and have some fun along the way :lurk:

Yep! also gonna start to build another one this week. I figured i get 2-3 times the amount as my F&D tables so gonna replace them.was thinking of picking up a small generator to, with my luck I'll be in the last week of flowering and we'll have a power outage, the pumps must run!

hey better boy it looks like you got things more than handled this time around.

how many plants go in this time? did change the diamiter of the inner cage? are you using cooltubes?

a generator doesnt sound like a bad idea, i hear with aero if your power goes out your screwed. how many watts does your pump and timer draw?

I got 96 plants in the unit, the inner screen around the light was shortened from 35" down to 14". must have jinks my self the other day, 3 hours after I stated Im gonna get a generator, the power went out,but ownly for a few hours.I figured if worst come to worst I could take a turkey baster and give every plant a shot once every 2 hours. that would be enough to keep they going and would take bout 20 min. to do.
The pump ownly pulls like 130 watts, super cheap compared to the eco from the last run, and with the use of the bladder tank it ownly turns on 1 time out of 3 sprays
