Afghanistan

I would love to get some feedback from some growers on this forum regarding Afghanistan. How interested would people be in hopefully getting hands on real afghan seeds from Afghanistan. Parts of Afghanistan that have not been touched such as the souther providence that are heavily guarded by the Taliban. Luckily I am a first gen. born here in the states and MIGHT be going to visit Afghanistan. My whole family lives out there, my immediate family escaped from the soviets and found refuge in the states. Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.

It would most likely depend on the quality of the plants they came from. They'd probably be more sought after if you did a little selection process in the field vs just picking them out of some crap you found growing in a ditch on the side of the road.

HidingInTheHaze - Thank you for the input, will keep that in mind. What would help an amateur collecting seeds such as myself, need to provide the breeders in order for them to hopefully yield some unknown traits? Like pictures of the plant, local history about the seeds, measurements? Any advice will greatly be appreciated.

Hazyfontazy- That is exactly what I wanted to do, was hand it off to someone that will be able to do something amazing with it hopefully.

Well I would think location and pictures would be welcomed.
As far as field selection I would start by walking a large patch of cannabis plants, if you find plants that are seeded, it would probably to be best to select from the females you feel have the best smell, and resin coverage initially.

I'm not too up on the Afghanistan weed scene but I do know they grow primarily for hashish, so I wouldn't be expecting to find large swaths of plants that have the bag appeal needed to make them interesting to the western growers. The selection process would probably require some work, but the more work you put in the better the results could be. That region os the world is pretty off limits to most of the world, so the work done there could be quite important.

Be on the look out for anything that stinks like a skunk, smell would be the best place to start.

Do it up!!!! Must be somewhere landraces are growing there. Id expect the people doing it to be heavily armed and dangerous tho. You need a reliable in, who will have your back if shit goes down. Dont do it if not.

Definitely something to think about. Don't want to complicate stuff but it would be fun to know how people would go about selection, since we all have different tastes/perspectives.

Following my nose would be my first instinct. I'm no fancy smell expert but, once I familiarize myself with a smell, subtleties become clearer. I would expect that to come in handy in a field full of the same strain.

best of luck, take care.

I personally would love to see pictures of Your Homeland in general.
Like just candid shots of buildings, streets, markets, and Your people just living life.

Have You been To Afghanistan before, or will this be Your 1st trip to Your Parents Homeland?

Peace; 1TT

I would love to get my hands on unmolested seed stock from Afghanistan. I have read many articles that small villages actually select and breed the best plants as a whole because that is how they make there money off the hashish production.

I just listened to I think it was Adam Dunns pod cast and they were talking about how US troops eradicated a lot of the fields in the zones that they were working in. I bet some of those plants from your region would be some of the best weed to find.

I for one would be willing to look through seeds that personally came from that region of the world. Most of our best varietys have originated or still have afghani in the gene pool.
