I used geopots the last two years outdoors...I think the 20 gallon size...in beige, not black.

Anyway, they started ripping at the edges last year. I'm sticking with smartpots this year. My smart pots are still going strong after 3 years outside and I bought a few more to replace the geopots.

Just my experience, grow nerd. Your mileage may vary, but I did pick up those geopots straight from the factory....

Good luck with your grow, dude. I'll be following along and checking on this thread.

HB.

Hemphrey Bogart, I'm not sure what the actual strength of the material is, but the Geo Pot's, compared to Smart Pot's, seemed much higher quality in construction all the way around. Bit thicker fabric, hemmed top edge, and multiple side stitches. And they're slightly less expensive than Smart Pot's to boot.

You might be right that the material is weaker even if thicker, but I wouldn't know it at this time. On both the SPs and GPs, I've dragged some heavy, just-watered pots across the dirt ground multiple times to move them without any issues or feeling like they'll rip the next time.

I looked at some "Root Pot"s, now those were real flimsy but for smaller pots indoors I don't see the need for much heavier duty (say, for up to 5-7gal?).

I'm gonna be needing some 400gal pots soon, how do I get the factory outlet connect?

DHF, nice to see you around again.

~~~
The full-term ladies being vegged indoor are severely root-bound and are needing to go out (w/ supplemental lighting) badly, but I've been real lazy and haven't even gotten the site prepared (fence, order dirt, level, etc). If I transplant now into larger containers, it'll make it even more difficult to transplant because the there won't be enough new roots grown by outdoor transplant time.
I know they would greatly have benefited from going out a week or two earlier, but it is what it is... If I do it again next year, things will definitely be better planned/executed and not so much flying by the seat of my pants.
pono loves me!! Don't I know it; but, the harder I try to achieve perfection, the closer I can get.
D,
Raised the lights as high as I could. Running out of room. Begging to go out.
Wish I had better lighting color but not looking too bad so far.
Tried transplanting directly into a soil bag. Fail. Ended up putting "1.5 cu ft" into a 20 or 25 gallon grow bag. Cut off bottom 3" from 5 gallon bag and transplanted about 4 inches deep. Can't seem to find white grow bags around here. Tomorrow I'll wrap with panda, white side out.
I'm pretty sure these 1.5 cu ft bags aren't really 1.5 cu ft, they feel a lot closer to 1 than 1.5. Pretty consistent. Feel cheated but going bulk soon.
Tried squeezing this one through the cage. Maybe not such a good idea.
